Madeleine McCann

Such a shame, IMO and it's not nice to say but i highly doubt she's still alive.
Same here.It has been a very long time now, it does seem that way God bless her wherever she is.

She could look like, or she could look like another million different combinations of facial features.

I don't see the point in releasing that picture.

i think she will be alive but in horrendous conditions in cambodia or something. Such a shame nice little girl.

It's all very sad, weather she's alive or not there's zero chance of them ever finding her.

This little girl woke up and went looking for her parents -who should not have left her alone! She was abducted by an opportunistic kidnapper - in all probability a sadistic paedophile.

She is dead.

Child trafficking of young white females of Madeline's age is a myth. There is too much publicity attached.

An awful statement but probably true. The McCanns are clinging to this theory of abduction for their own sanity. If proved she was dead it would tear them apart. The regret would be ten times worse than it is now, while they are clinging to these hopes. And why they left them I will never know.It is an unbelieveably stupid thing to do.They are now paying a very heavy price for a few beers and a meal.

I won't post my full opinion because the McCann's have very good lawyers. I will say however that if the McCanns had been on the social and from a council estate, they would now be serving time in prison.

I think they know more than they've said but whether they do or not, they have only themselves to blame. Typical arrogant "we know best" doctors.

Totally depute this.

There's no proof of paedophilia. Straight kidnap is just as likely and in that case, it's easy to cover a child's looks to keep them away from prying eyes.

Then, the years go by...

I agree.

That poor little girl is long gone.

It was sad the Portuguese exonerated the McCann’s off any wrong doing as regards their daughter’s disappearance.

I would have thought leaving young children alone whilst getting pissed was a crime in any civilised country.

Its not what you know but who you know.

I'm sure that children go missing regularly. Howver, Madeline McCann went missing when there wasn't much going on in the press at the time, so they jumped on the story.

I'll be honest, I think the amount of publicity this case has attracted is out of proportion to what normally goes on.

Take for example this swine flu. A handful of people in the UK have FLU (it's flu at the end of the day) and all currently infected are expected to make a full recovery. Last year, 34,000 people died of regular flu in the US, but it never got mentioned. But if one person dies in the US of swine flu, then suddenly it's a major event. Same with the McCann thing. Children go missing all the time, but because of the circumstances and the timing, suddenly it's a major story.

Not in so many words, on the main forum, but I said a similar thing to Ajay when he knocked the idea of the lads wearing masks at The Derby!

Totally agree with both these posts. They were also the inspiration for that old soak Karen Matthews (no, I'm not saying they were to blame for that), but old piss-pot Matthews spotted a route to a few quid off the back of their child abduction. A very sorry state of affairs.

What about all the inconsistencies in the statements?

If you ask me the McCann’s left many questions unanswered, just leaving young children alone is not the actions off loving parents.

I stayed in Praia Da Luz only 1 week after Madeline went missing, from my experience it was not the kind off place that anybody looking to snatch a child would go unnoticed, only one main road in and out.

The people of Praia Da Luz rightly blamed the parents, I remembered seeing a poster off Madeline in the local taxi rank window, and underneath was written in English

quote:

“Where were you mummy??”

Here in the United Kingdom they got nothing but Sympathy, I bet the same press would have slaughtered a single mother living on benefits

I know a lot of people who formed the very same opinion even before she was found under the bed.
They saw how much was in the 'Maddie fund' and thought they'd very much like a slice of that.

I've seldom heard such a confusion of ideas.

You are simply not comparing like with like and you're making a logical ( category) mistake.

You can't compare reports of a virus with reports of a child abduction. It's just stupid.

Toddlers do not go missing for long periods 'all the time'. Whenever one does, it is ALWAYS a major news event.

Not true!A few journos did voice this opinion.Noteably John Gaunt who did a show on this and he got quite a bit of stick for saying that things would have been different if it was a single mum on benefits etc.Admitedly most of the callers were middle class and were defending the McCanns decision to leave the kids.(IMO it's unforgivable.)But then that Karen Mathews goes and screws it up for decent hard working mums. What she did was just as bad but what is worse it swayed media attitude against single mums. And we all know what the media can do to influence public opinion.
