The funny thing about Margaret Thatcher is that even though she was elected three times, I've hardly ever met anyone that's admitted to voting for her.
Northern poor city type are you?
You managed to get one out of three correct, but even if I was, I'm not sure what difference it makes to my observation.

If you were in affluent countryside areas of the North or most places in the south, then you'd get different responses.

An amazing leader and a shining example of how to modernise and improve a country on its knees.

She was no amazing leader, she made no real changes for the betterment of mankind, she bullied and divided. she was no Churchill and to suggest she was is an ignorance of history where he could unite she could only divide, where he was a moderate in his party she was a hardliners, where he respected she despised.

Much of the country is still on its knees where she kicked them 30 years ago

I agree

way too divisive to be a great leader

It was needless for Britain but for her it was desparately needed with the Tories as low as they had ever been and 20% behind the SDP in the polls

Actually Argentina started that war by invading the Falklands.

She was re-elected on the back of winning that war but in reality the war should never have happened. The government at the time negligently ignored the warning signs of the impending invasion and the Argies took that as a green light, thinking that Britain wouldn't have the motivation to launch a war at a time when economically we were in the shit. There was a similar build up to an invasion in the late 70s and that time Callaghan diverted some warships to the South Atlantic which was sufficient deterrent to prevent the invasion. As this didn't happen in '82, the invasion happened, war ensued and she got re-elected in spite of the economy being on its knees. It didn't help that Labour had an unelectable hard left leader at the time.

So how would you have responded to the invasion of sovereign territory?

I think you'll find Argentina started it.

Negligently or deliberately, I think she was quite keen to encourage Argentina in so she could then show she was an Iron Lady. A single ship sent when suggested would have meant no war and no deaths but that would have only suited Owen and Steel

I think you'll find she knew what was coming. Makes you wonder why she did nothing? Still she got re-elected,no matter that many servicemen lost their lives...great woman.
