"Tomorrow night sees one of Maine Road FC’s biggest games for years when they take on Bacup Borough in the North-West Counties Football League Challenge Cup Final. This is the trophy Maine Road won back in 2008. The Final takes place at Curzon Ashton’s Ground (OL7 9HG -Richmond St, close to IKEA/Sainsburys) with a 7:45pm Kick-off. Be there if you can. My Dad played for Bacup Borough in the 1950s, before Bolton Wanderers signed him up.

So I have split loyalties...

Good luck tomorrow, shame my lad has a game otherwise I would have popped round to watch that, got to watch Glossop North End though, VivaGNE !

My son does a two hour session Play the Barca way (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.calmsoccer.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.calmsoccer.com</a>) on Thursday's. We would love to have been there for the final. But his ambition is to get into the Maine Road team next season. So it is more important for him to train. We will be looking out for the result.

Thanks to you and the other posters for your good wishes. Re: Your son - Are you already in touch with the club? We are already starting to formulate a pre-season training schedule and should you require any contacts, please PM me.

Thanks again! We do try to play good stuff and the opposition nearly always say the same thing. Nearly every team we play cannot understand our lowly league position. However, I think our very, very young players have intermittentently struggled against some of the seasoned 'professionals' that we play in our league. But hey..we are in our League's Cup Final -a great achievement.Let's hope we do the deed.

Will try and get the result on here asap, but I could be a bit wrapped up in it afterwards! If anyone is there that has immediate access to Bluemoon, then please do it!

You can imagine...it has been a special week for me. I was working at The Etihad up to 5.00pm and during the Derby day it was like nothing I've ever experienced in terms of media presence/celebreties. Then whizz back to The Bull's Head for the pre-match anesthetic. Then back to the ground and all goes to plan (yes, yes, yes!)..and now Maine Road FC's biggest game for 4 years. Oh, and somewhere in the middle of all that I had the date from heaven!!

Hey 61 yrs old and life is good!
