Thank god for that - thought the ex wife wanted an increase for a minute.

Apologies for the inconvenience, it took a lot longer than anticipated. Not ideal doing it today, but it was the only opportunity we had to get it done.

As you can see, the search facility isn't available at the moment but we're hoping to have that back at some point in the next couple of days. we just thought it was more important to get the forum back up as soon as we could.

Didn't you carry out maintenance on it only a short while back? I'm not complaining by the way, I was just interested in how it all works behind the scenes.

A little while back there was an error on the backend that removed much of the auto-functionality. Basically the robot that we have that controls the site and ensures it doesn't go wrong and everything is working right, stopped and couldn't be rebooted (with the message that it was because the site was operational). This meant that either me or Ric had to do it manually which is a real pain in the arse and not as efficient as the robot doing it.

As I have some stuff coming up for the rest of this week at least, we really had to get it done today. Usually we do it at night time but my lad's teething so that really wasn't an option. We thought it would take a shorter amount of time but once we took the site down the robot still didn't reboot. We had to rebuild it which also meant rebuilding how different parts of the forum talk to each other.

This was only planned to literally be 5 minutes or so with the understanding that if it went bad then it might take up to an hour. Unfortunately this very specific and rare error is one whereby it unraveled a lot of other things that all needed sowing back up. The search functionality is one of those things that also unraveled but we left to one side to get the forum back up. This will return within a few days.

Blimey that's a lot of stuff that I've just read about 3 or 4 times and am still scratching my head going huh!! I've always painted a picture in my head of you and ric in a darkened room with mad hair and white lab coats on sat amongst miles and miles of wires and cables frantically pushing buttons and pulling levers.

A lot of us are very tired and slightly hungover today. Can you explain in English?
Actually, it's OK - keep doing what you do :-)
