Normally if I wake in the middle of the night it's either due to a need to urinate or I am checking if my dreamy tryst with Claudia Schiffer is real.....

...however, with one hour less sleep I woke up and needed to check something out....

The size of our pitch, is it smaller than it was - and therefore less space for our slow pass and move game?

The pitch used to be 116.5x78yds (9078sq yds) or 116x77yds (8907sq yds) depending which site you look on.

The pitch is now listed as 115x74yds (8510sq yds), which means there is 400-500sq yds less pitch for away teams to cover when defending - meaning less space for Silva, Yaya, Kun to do those little intricate passes we were so used to.

But then I thought, that also means the pitch is 500sq yds smaller for us to defend counter attacks....and we are sh**e at doing that!

So all in all, I should have stayed in bed!

Revisit your maths

116.5 x 78 = 9087
115 x 78 = 8970
116 x 77 = 8932

Oh you might be right there....there used to be a minimum and maxium and we had the biggest a couple years back.

Interestlingly, Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton are three teams who's pitch can't meet the minimum set by the Premier League

Lancs_Blue - good spot, the width is now 74yds (not 78 as I typed)

I know they're not in the premier league but theres no way QPR's meets the minimum requirements either.
