I think you need a conviction to be deported. Although outstanding charges would probably be a valid reason for him not to have a visa renewed.

He should just have been deported after he’d been arrested, given that he must have been on a visa that was about to expire.

If you’ve been arrested a couple of times for a very serious offence then in my view you forfeit your right to be in the country. It’s not like anybody was going to miss the arsehole, other than the people who helped him while he was on the run I suppose.

His visa was due to expire, he was obviously a complete wrong un, and had he been kicked out of the country then he wouldn’t have been able to stab somebody to death on a street in broad daylight. Again, if people here for a finite period on a visa can’t behave, then they should forfeit their right to be here.
