Manchester City are considering a summer move for Shakhtar Donetsk ace Douglas Costa, according to reports in Brazil.

The 20-year-old playmaker has been one of the stars of the Donetsk side who are 12 points clear at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League and leading Roma after the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

As such, interest in Costa has been growing steadily, and Manchester City have now emerged as possible buyers.

Shakhtar paid Gremio £5.5m for the midfielder in January 2010, but his value has doubled following an explosive first year at the club.

And reports in Brazil have hinted that Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu is confident Costa can be successful in one of Europe's major leagues and could be ready to sell him in the summer.

A Robinho type winger/striker rather than a playmaker like Silva so couldnt be a back up for him in my opinion.

I have seen vid and he is a great dribbler. With good vision too.

He can play in centre and on the wing. Just like Silva. He is pretty similiar to Silva for sure. Remember that silva isn't exactly a pure attacking midfielder centre.

he has a pretty free role and goes to the wings often. Just like this guy.

United chased him relentlessly over a couple of seasons but never got him.

He is a quality player but one of those you can't be sure about succeeding in England till he gets here and has some time to try and settle.
