Has anyone got Manchester City FC shares and didn’t accept the offer when the compulsory purchase was made by Thaksin?

Surely if it was a compulsory purchase, nobody would still have the shares?
You need to accept the offer. If you’ve got a small share holding and didn’t accept the offer you’re still classed as a dissenting shareholder.

I didn’t accept and I’ve got a friend who didn’t.

I was wondering there was anyone else who might be in the same position.

Not sure how that works then as if you have to accept the offer, then it wouldn't be a compulsory purchase.

I thought that the idea of compulsory purchase was that there wouldn't be the choice. I'm probably wrong but that's the way it sounds to me.

Yes, you're the owner of a nice piece of paper that may be worth something as a piece of memorabilia, but nothing in terms of a piece of the club/company.

Had you been identifiable, they would have sent a cheque for your shares - acceptance or not. If not identifiable, you can still get your money but there's a long process in finding out which broker dealt with it and how to claim. Seem to remember the share price was the square root of bugger-all.

From memory once 90 per cent accept the rest are acquired automatically.
So again from a hazy recollection you could claim the takeover proceeds but wouldn't be a minority shareholder now. , just someone who dissented from the share purchase offer.
(p.s I Hooe that is not bollocks!)

I did the same. I wrote a begging letter but that didn't wash. They gave me 40p per share instead of the 70p per share offer. C***s!

Still, nice of them to return the share certificates and cheque.

Me and my son, love the word dissenting.

Should have flogged them when you had the chance mate.
When the 115 case goes tits up and club finally gets bankrupted, the bailiffs will come round to take your telly.

I had a few shares. Not many but enough to get me to the AGM each year.
I was a right business tycoon for a while!
I like to think me selling my shares for the takeover means I played a crucial part in the club’s history.

I am also acutely aware that I stopped world war 3 in the 80s by going on a protest to Greenham Common.

Its ordinary people who do extraordinary things :)
