Manchester City Folklore - new book by Gary James

Great book!

I like how it’s not a story or chronological so you can pick it up and put it down, keep coming back to it. You don’t even need to know what page you were last on. Found it ideal for advert breaks, although then you miss the programme you’re watching as you’re reading through the book haha
Great. I really wanted to make it a dip in sort of book. One that gives snippets of quality info in an easy to read and visibly attractive way. Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate it.

Just finished reading it last night, its a great little book to dive into anywhere and read something random about our great club.

Enjoyed the " definately maybe " section and Gary's take on "typical City ",Iv been thinking along the same lines for a while now,how we view typical city has being negative yet at the same time we turn things around from the jaws of defeat or catastrophe etc,the aguero moment, the comeback from the 1905 scandal etc Us doing things right all the time may come to pass as "typical city " one day ! Amen Blues.

Great. Thanks for your support. Glad you enjoyed it.

A quick update.... the book is now available at Waterstones: https://www.waterstones.com/book/manchester-city-folklore/gary-james/9781999900823 If your local branch hasn't got it in get them to order a few. It's also at Amazon: Thanks again to all those who have bought it or commented on it. I really appreciate it. If nothing else the book gives us something to read instead of the tabloids and their constant digs at crowds - Incidentally City's CL crowds are bigger than MUFC's were at times during the mid 1990s when they were at a similar stage of development to what City is at now. You can check them here http://www.stretfordend.co.uk/competitions/europeancup/matches11.html Gothenburg in 1994 attracted 33,625 in a 40k plus capacity stadium (Honved 35k in September 1993). If anyone says anything about support it's worth checking MUFC's figures for corresponding games and times. Never forget they got less than 20k for Gary Neville's debut (UEFA Cup) in 1992.

Regarding the Viking chant I can confirm having been there at Norwich away in October 1976 it was sung there and with the low roof and terraces at Carrow Road it was really loud and great to hear for the first time, helped by a 2-0 win with late goals from Kidd and Royle if I remember correctly.

My latest book on City will be out in August but you can order it now and get your name published in it (plus your copy will be signed by me). The book will be published in August, but order now via the link to get your name in it: https://www.conkereditions.co.uk (note: they're also doing a book on Leicester so make sure you pick the right City - wouldn't want anyone to read about Vardy instead of Aguerooooooooo). Actually, probably better to use this link: https://www.conkereditions.co.uk/product/manchester-city-folklore-special-subscriber-offer/

The book will be soft back with over 200 pages and is a little different from my other works. It is the type of book you can dip into and is based on the MCFC match programme articles I've written this year - it's the stuff every Blue needs to know about the club. I'll post further details over the coming weeks, but in the meantime here's a summary from my publisher and don't forget to order your copy via the link.

‘Manchester City Folklore’ – special subscribers’ offer

Gary James’s long-awaited new book, Manchester City Folklore: What Every Blue Needs to Know is now available to pre-order in a special subscribers’ offer.

All for the regular RRP of £15, early subscribers will see their names added to a roll of honour in the book; your copy will be signed and personally dedicated by the author, and you’ll receive it before the official publication date in August.

Just took delivery in sunny Sydney!

Great read Gary with some superb memories and confirmation of what we know about our great club, and a lot of what we didn’t know

Thanks for this latest addition to my “Gary James collection”

Yes, the story's in the book and it was Kidd and Royle. The reason why it suddenly became a chant is included too. Thanks.

Received it today down here in Cairns, Queensland, and I couldn’t resist reading the first few chapters. What an excellent read, it really stirs up the memories again.

Thank you so much Gary for signing the book, and also ensuring I got my name in it, after me stuffing up the checkout.

Bless him. My father who I bought it for asked me how you managed to print the dedication and make it look real. He's chuffed to bits after I told him that you'd sat down and done it personally. Oh and he loves the book, saying it brings back lots of memories and things he's forgotten. Thank you Gary, it's made it a lovely present for him.
