Tonight's muen,

Back page

FIT FOR PURPOSE (FIT in red). Vidic and Gerrard back Rooney to roar.

Next 2 pages.

READY TO ROOMBLE (ROO in red). Andy Ritchie and Garry Birtles on why Rooney should by (they mean be) thrown right in it for the Reds.

Now if i am not mistaken don't half united's fans hate Rooney, and the other half just tolerate him. Doesn't Rooney want to leave, and doesn't want to play for United, in particular Moyes. Has this not been a totally negative episode during the pre season for United, and yet here comes Stuart Mathieson on his white horse to woo Roo with these positive headlines in the muen. It's nauseating.

Next 2 pages

Barry has wait on his shoulders ( in big bold black letters) Blah Blah bloody Blah.

Next 2 pages.

Phil fires a Hart salvo (Phil Jones). "He's fine", said phil, "There were bodies in front of him so I wouldn't punish him too much for that".
"He's massive (yawn). Joe Hart is a top lad and a great player as well".

You should read the rest of the shit written in this article before the words of wisdom from Stanley.

This is the Friday before the new season is about to start and already the muen is blowing the rag trumpet.

Maybe you`ve forgotten that we don`t kick off until Monday !! Wait and see whats in tomorrow or Mondays news with regard to how much space they have been given today.
You read far too much into something that doesn`t exist as much as you`d like it to.

did think it was sweet that Phil Jones had learnt to read and write over the summer still a shit player and massive gurner

Just for the record, Peter Gardner was a rag who reported the City matches. Quite often he found it difficult to give us much credit for anything.

Gardner wasn't a rag, I think he was a Middlesbrough supporter who was employed by the MEN to write about City. On the other hand, David Meek was/is a rag supporter. It didn't stop him being banned from the Swamp when he wrote an article that criticised them, though.

Ironically, whenever there was a Derby match, I always used to read Meek's match report, as it seemed to be more accurate!

The only time I can remember a report from Gardner being 100% accurate was when we played Southampton away on a Tuesday night in the early 70s. The match ended 1 - 1, with Franny Lee getting the equaliser at the death. In the directors' lounge after the match (don't ask, it's a long story), I was talking to Gardner, who asked me my views on the match., which I told him. He must have had a recorder on the conversation, because the match report the following night was almost verbatim what I had said!

Stuart Brennan will be on here shortly to defend the paper no doubt

At least he has the balls, unlike some on here, who are like sheep and follow other non readers to use that as their barometer.

"Brennan's Balls" That could be the name of his new column in the Sunday Sport when the Sheikh buys the MEN

Jones has since progressed from his Dot to Dot Book and is now onto a Colouring Book.Well there you have it a Rag sticking up for Englands Number One.Don`t let too many on here know.

Like many on here I have always felt the Evening News coverage of City hasn't been the best but do feel under the Mirror group ownership it has become comical and far worse with very poor research into City based stories. It has also started to follow the sensational (no substance) approach of the groups major names The Mirror and The People. It is just a shame that we have no alternative to the Evening News , I dont expect the Evening News to be a City paper but i do expect it to respect the Club of the City it reports on.

Most of the stories are just Cut n Paste from other papers. To have the word "Evening" in the title is farcical considering it is delivered normally by 10am. Shame as this used to be the best evening regional news paper and one the others looked up to

I'm no lover of the MEN - I think Spencer is an utter clown but as a regular reader I have to give some credit to Brennan - in the circumstances he does a good job and he has written some decent stuff over the last few months. It's easy to criticise - and I'm as guilty as anyone but you also need to give credit where it's due - and I think Brennan does a good job overall on a paper in terminal decline.
