Not certain if this has been posted but for some of us FOC’s who had the winter fuel allowance ripped away this might be of interest.

It’s only available to certain city centre post codes and the criteria are that shouldn’t be receiving other benefits but it’s a piss easy form to fill in.

We’ve just been allocated £150.00

My mum requires 24 hour heating. They’re not short of money but their bill is a joke. They’re live in failsworth and Oldham council aren’t taking part in this, the cunts.

That’s very disappointing mate, I know it’s quite a narrow post code but hopefully it helps a few out.

Nice one pal.
I've just applied online and had the email back saying they will look at my application and get back to me within
10 days.
It would be nice to get a bit of money back from MCC as I've been a council tax/ rates payer since 1990 ,and myself and the wife have paid into their coffers for 34 years.

There’s also one off Cold Weather Payments for when it drops below a certain temperature for a number of days. Think that’s paid automatically though.

PS the Winter Fuel cash grab was short sighted and nasty and pisspoor politics.

They turned our application around in four days, good luck mate

Couldn’t agree more mate, my Doris had paid NI and Tax for 50 years without a single break and of all the retirement “perks” she was looking forward to was the WFA and first year she due whoosh it was gone! Anyway she blasts the merry crap out of the free tram pass.

I'm a bit bamboozled.
I went on the Bury Council site and filled in a 'form' including our very adequate joint income.
It said, to my amazement, that we were eligible for £595 a month in extra benefits.
I've scratched my head over this, as I can't see how. If we really are eligible for that much, the system is crazy and the King is probably due a couple of hundred.

No mention of income on the MCC form. They just seem to want to check that you are not receiving any other benefits than your state pension.
Confirm both your DOB and provide a NI number for both of you, and that's all that they require to be filled in.

I honestly would not have the face to claim extra given our income. And I can't believe we are eligible or that the money is intended for the likes of us.

I agree with you entirely pal. Me and my wife are pretty comfortably off and don't have any money worries at all.
But it's free money, it's a minimum effort to fill the form in.
And if FCUM can owe MCC almost a £million in loans, then the council must have enough spare money to help 2 pensioners heat their home this winter.

My 30 year old nephew, who is an alcoholic, is paid a carers allowance for looking after his alcoholic partner and she is paid a carers allowance for looking after her alcoholic father
And now the father has just qualified for a mobility car even though he can’t drive, but he’s taking it as his daughter, who only has a provisional licence, is going to drive it with my nephew sitting in the front as the qualified driver and he’s just got his license back after a five year ban for drink driving

You don't have to 'qualify' for motability. You choose to use pip money to pay for it

I got £150 from this in Ancoats a couple of months back ... i didn't need to fill in any form, they just sent me a letter telling me i qualified for it, and it was paid soon afterwards.

Yeah if you get the higher rate mobility £75.75 a week it is an option then to get one, and you use that money to pay for it instead of it going in the bank. You can pay more or less than the £75.75pw depending on the value of the car, topping up or keeping the difference.

I've just had an e-mail from Manchester Council to say that we have been approved for a Winter Fuel Hardship payment of £150 .
This will be paid direct into our bank account in the next 5 days.
So cheers for the heads up pal.
Much appreciated information.
