Staying on the mancunian theme,we know manchester has always had a gang culture in fact i am sure it was manchester who started it with the scuttlers in the victorian era, which lead to the birth of boys clubs and St Marks and you know the rest.
Anyway getting back to topic hard men of Manchester.

Anyone heard of the Bear (aka as Brian Dunn) this guy was built like his nick name and was feard around the east manchester area.
Appartenly he got his hard man reputation in the late 1960's when he would walk up the length of a main road and stop every male and ask them for money. He did this on the back on a rumour that was circulating in that he had a rumble in the top yates on oldham street. When the Police knew who it was they wouldnt go in an sent in a police dog. To cut the story short he knocked out the police dog. Anyone put any light on this or any more like it.
