the only drama is cos it missed and dint cum of ..if ronaldo does it for madrid its skill.mario does it its wrong ,,,please do it to the rags and let it go in see how many call it a great goal,,

Its drama and "wrong" because it was utterly pointless showboating. the choices were pretty much guaranteed goal or fancy bullshit..

I personally chose pretty much guaranteed goal every time and so should every player on the pitch.

With the Mancini one there was no other way for him to get the ball in the back of the net.

In BM's clip there he has no choice but to do something extraordinary to try to get the ball goal-bound. He pulled it off, and the fact he scored just makes it even more genius.

Mario was faced with nothing but fresh air and a league 1 goal keeper and only needed to do the ordinary to get the ball in the back of the net. The fact he tried the extraordinary in that situation was pointless, and the fact he failed to pull it off just made him look stupid. That's the incident.

Now the furore came because he got pulled over the charcoals, in public, off his manager and it is that which is making Balotelli the talking point. Not the move he tried and failed to pull off, the aftermath.

Did the american commentator in the la galaxy match tell you about this goal by any chance?
 
The second video demonstrates that this isn't even really any great improvisation, it's fairly common. At the end of the day, the player is keeping his bearings, staying nicely balanced and using a bit of timing. I would be tempted to say it's technically better than spinning round to make the volley. If you start spinning round or doing acrobatics, whilst the timing becomes easier, it's harder to know which direction the target is, and it's harder to be balanced and therefore to aim straight.

Basically, it's a natural, unforced way to score.
