Garside in the Torygraph today, "Another Rasputin brought in from overseas to marshal the mysterious arts of continental success, Mancini, found himself similarly assailed (Ancelotti was t' other one!) the moment balls began collecting in the Manchester City net."

This is a piece where the main premise is to invest in a British manager. Garside has to say British because the only examples which fit his hypothesis are BaconFace, BaconFace Mark II (would I luv to send Moyes 'homeward tae think again' about badmouthing our club in his prog notes) the Brummy Scot who thinks he's gonna get Joe H on the cheap, and the Whingeing Windbag from Villa.

But if the argument for a British manager holds any intellectual strength, why not go the whole hog and just have British players.

Garside's 'The Monday Column' is yet again short of something interesting to say so fill it with some verbal dross.

And while I'm in 'rant mode' John Ley reporting on the match had this to say as an alternative to a Fulham win ' . . . . . and City survived a second penalty claim in added time, when Bjorn Helge Riise's cross appeared to hit the hand of Vincent Kompany'. If the ball hits yer hand, pillock, it doesn't make it a penalty. The last thing Vinny had on his mind was deliberately handling the ball.
