My Twitter timeline had too many Blues fawning over him. Do they not understand why he was sacked? He's an arrogant man who has walked in to good fortune several times. I guarantee he won't last at Galatasaray and, after a couple more moves, he'll end up in the Middle East for one final payday.

Maybe those Blues have genuine admiration for what he achieved with us. He delivered our first trophies for many years. For the younger generation those were the first trophies they will have seen us lift.

They very well may understand why he was sacked, but the fact he helped bring us so much joy on those 2 occasions means he will always have admiration from the vast majority of supporters.

Stop being an ungrateful twat.

I have a deep love for Roberto for the above. However, I trust the owners, that they knew more about what was happening inside the club than we do.

But because of the trophies, the 6-1, the semi, getting under the GPCs skin, loving us fans and teaching us how to win he will always be special to many of us.

However, having Roberto was like living with a bat- shit crazy, porn star......

Lovely. Nothing egotistical about that quote at all. He should keep to his own counsel.

I think about 99% of City fans would say he gave us a winning mentality. In fact, statistically, it would be easy to prove. Not only with trophies but in the huge change in the number of games we expect to win and do win. The Etihad became a fortress under Mancini, that is pretty undeniable.

He says nothing there that is untrue.

It isn't egotistical either. He changed the mentality of this club in an immeasurable way. He changed it in an environment where the world and his dog wanted him and 'the mercenaries' to fail.

He usurped the long standing order and delivered the first punches to the head of utd as a club.

He did this for us.

That comment works in more ways than one, and that I think is RM's real achievement - as others have said, he changed the mentality. We are winners again.

Mancini will always be in the hearts of City fans not only for what he did, but for when he did it. He arrived at a time when the fans expectations were sky high because of the vast amounts of money that were being poured into the club, and because of the stated ambition of the new owners. The fans believed that the club were on the cusp of something great but results on the pitch weren't reflecting this. We weren't being taken seriously by the media and by our rivals in the football world, hence the comparisons with Sunderland who had apparently spent a fortune way back when and got nowhere, hence the Noisy Neighbours quip from the GPC. All this served to sow doubt into the minds of the fans as to whether it was all too good to be true.
It was into this environment that Mancini was introduced. One of his first visible actions was to start wearing our scarf hence becoming one of us with one fell swoop. He seemed to understand where the Club was in it's historical context, he seemed to understand what it was to be a City fan. Then he set about altering the mindset of the team which saw us narrowly miss out on a Champions League place at his first time of asking. Despite this, he had given us hope and he had made us believe.
This was a very emotional time to be a Blue and Mancini had succeeded in forming an emotional attachment in the hearts and minds of the fans. Despite any success that he was destined to preside over in the coming seasons, he was seen as a fighter, and more importantly he was fighting for us. The rest is history.
These are just some of the reasons that Mancini will always have a place in the hearts of the vast majority of City fans.
Having said all that i am sure there will be a lot of his most ardent supporters who will agree with me when i say that it was time for the Club and Mancini to part company to allow the club to move on to its next phase of progression, but that should never mean that his achievements or his time with us, as one of us, should denigrated, but rather he should remembered with fondness and affection and not a little bit of gratitude.

Well, perhaps you should follow your own advice then because most people would have a hard time understanding why he should keep his opinions to himself when they are either true (that he gave us a winning mentality) or positive (that he thinks we'll win the title). Personally I welcome positive comments from a guy who has been a big positive in my life as a City fan.
