away v Napoli, this is a game where we have to avoid defeat, going into a 70,000 seater stadium with a really hostile atmosphere,Mancini's team selection and tactics will be so important......thoughts?

I think the next month or so as a whole is the biggest test, both for Mancini and the club in general.
True what you say about this game though. Don't concede in the first 20 mins will be the first goal (no pun intended.)

Mancini's biggest test was the semi and final last season. This season's champions league is a bit of a no lose situation for him.

If we qualify then the response will be 'well for the team at his disposal you would have expected them to' and if we don't then it'll be 'City were in the group of death so it's no real surprise. this will be a good experience for them'.

for me it's more important that we challenge for the title than it is to progress in europe.

I don't see it as his biggest test, our main target is to win the Premier League so .. yea

Apart from its 60,000 lol

Given Napoli's last game is against Villareal, I feel this is not just an 'avoid defeat' but a must win.

Atmosphere will be a lot easier to deal with than QPR as there's a running track I think.

One game is not a test as anything can happen in a single game. It's a season that tests a manager. If a single game was a test, then what about the FA Cup semi, FA Cup Final, and 1-6 Derby? Do questions still get asked of Ferguson and Wenger when they go into a big game? Perhaps it was not your intention, but your question carries the implication that Mancini has yet to finally prove himself, and that a defeat will be his fault.

i understand the cup final n semi, but last season the side nearly picked itself, this season is a whole new ball game especially in europe, our away performances in europe the past 3 seasons has been generally poor, this to me is the acid test away at Napoli,Mancini has nothing to prove to me,maybe to himself in the champions league.
As for our priorities yes i agree, the prem is a must this season. Onwards and upwards for our blues

Yes I think it will be one of his biggest tests yet, but I do think i've thought that about nearly every match we have played this season. Its made me really realise just how hard a job Mancini has, I have no idea how he's managed to maintain any sort of hairline as mine has receeded just thinking about what he has to do :D
