Mangala signs new contract

Not sure how anyone thinks the extension suggests a transfer ban when we would automatically appeal any ban and buy ourselves an extra transfer window during the appeal to cover any holes in the squad anyway.

Yep. It’s the theory that makes the least sense of all.

If we do sell him for anything like a decent fee this summer, after not being able to sell him for two years and extending his contract, the knives will be out once more.

Or perhaps his injury has healed, he's training like a demon, understands Pep's methods, players confident in training with him, confidence boost at a time when we are in need of fresh legs.
We need to trust him and Pep because this wouldn't happen without Pep's agreement for sure.

If I had to guess I would say it's more to-do with his latest injury the club are simply looking out for him. His expected treatment and recovery to full fitness will likely take longer then his contract has to run, he signs a one year extension on lower wages he has an income and is insured while his agent finds him a new club and he can focus on his recovery rather then what will happen in afew months. Classy move by the club if it's true I expect him to be free released as soon as he is recovered and has a new club sorted.

Scenario 1
Mangala - “Hey Boss I think I have been on top form of late, how about a new contract?”
Answer A - WTF
Answer B - if you want to sign a new contract you will need to get me and Txiki rat arsed
Answer C - quick here’s a pen sign this before you change my mind, thought you would never ask

Scenario 2
Guardiola - “Hey Mangler I know you have cost the club a small fortune but I would love for you to sign a new contract.”
Answer A - WTF
Answer B - where do I sign. Will be worth it just to see Bluemoon explode
Answer C - I will have some of whatever you are taking boss.

The most logical explanation so far. It clearly has nothing to do with any transfer ban and won't help City secure a fee for him, so I suspect you're on the right track with this.
