This is not a Wum. I'm sure the owners would have hoped for the last 16 at least in C.L, but like last season when Bobby was given his target, that he and the team achieved, is it reasonable to assume, based on the team that was put out at Napoli, that our target is the title. ( Full strength for a win last night we'd have been through, with loads of games left to fight for the league, but he opted for keeping players for Liverpool ). Maybe when we are discussing how Bobby got it wrong, he was going off a plan just like last season, air your opinions ;)

Our target is the title, nothing else matters..... For now.
No-one will be talking about City's champions league if we win it. As Cloughie said, its the league title which is the most important and if you could be knocked out of all competitions right now for a gurantee of the title he would take it and so would I if I didnt think we could win the FA Cup/Carling cup/Europa/Champions league

I think our owners understand that the premier league title is a more realistic option. They will be disappointed that we didn't make the next round, just like us as fans. But I don't think it has anything to do with the team Mancini put out in Napoli... He was simply rotating the squad to what he felt was the best option with the amount of big matches coming up.

Champions League success would have a cherry on the cake, but it seems it'll need to wait another season or two.

As De Niro said, our target for now is the title, but that could all change if the footballing gods are looking down on us. I will be very interested to see the time that lines up Vs Arsenal, but i expect a full strength team Vs Liverpool. It will be a true test of our team.

My guess is automatic qualification for CL next season is the minimum requirement and we are more likely to attain that through league position...it is very clear to me that we are mounting a serious assault on the title and that is priority numero uno.
Any cups we might pick up along the way would be seen as a bonus I imagine.
Watching tonights CL games tonight it struck me how fine the line is between potential success or failure...after last nights game in Napoli I was gutted but looking back I see how tight a game it was and how on another night Balo could've had a hat-trick...fine lines.

It will be a major disappointment if we dont win something this year. Qualifying for the last 16 would have been deemed success. Now thats gone the pressure to deliver will be heightened. Dont be surprised if we see Mancini a little more animated.

We didn't play as well as we can but the main reason we lost is the rotation, you don't rotate in a must win game, you win it the rotate v bayern when we are already through.
When we play arsenal in the cc he will rotate again when we should pick a team to get through. We then win the first semi well and rotate the second leg, that's how you rotate, not in our biggest game to date.

We are currently 13 points better off than we were last year after 12 games.

Our target is clearly to finish off the season with more points than we did last season and if we do that its highly likely we will finish in a better position than we did last season.

Chumps League progression would also have been a priority but a title would more than compensate for a two legged tie against the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona.
