Manuel Pellegrini

The usual corpse gags have made a welcome reappearance.

For a manager that won three trophies in three years, and took us further in the European cup than anyone else ever.

A manager some on here never forgave for winning his second league cup. Dig up the post match thread from that game and witness the bile and filth directed at him for daring to pick a goalkeeper that won us the penalty shootout.

Think back to his great dignity and utter professionalism after he was sacked very publicly mid season and witness his enormous decency in wishing the club and its new manager nothing but the best. To then drag an aging squad at that point into the champions league even whilst every player knew he was a lame duck manager AND get that squad within one goal of the champs league final apparently makes him a “corpse” and no doubt a “senile old ****” (actual quotes from any matchday thread during his time here starting, funnily enough, the game after he won his first trophy.).

No doubt we have a superstar manager these days who is clearly “cool as fuck” and will, I’m sure, go on to emulate Manuels achievements albeit taking longer to do so, and spending considerably more in the process but as a fan base we should never forget the debt we have to Manuel.

His first and third seasons here were significantly more successful than last season.

If only he wore stone island and lovely white trainers on the touch line. That was his big mistake. He wasn’t cool.

But he was brilliant.

Totally agreed with, Pelli` was continuously abused and disrespected by the media too. He `s a hero of mine for sure.

It`s just, I hope to have even more greater heroes too. :D

A very good manager who was terribly underrated by the premier league, and worse so by City fans.

He was a good manager for us no doubt especially in the first two years and went with dignity and his reputation in tact.

He did need to be replaced though and he knew it for all the reasons well documented but he handled himself personally as best he could given the results were on the slide for sometime partly due to poor recruitment.

Always liked Pellers - record speaks for itself - football managers like politicians are in a career that inevitably ends in failure but I do think those that speak ill of MP should consider what our trophy record would look like without his contribution. Leicester could do much worse - they showed that by appointing Shakespeare

What's brilliant about having a dig at our current boss in an effort to show support to his predecessor?

I absolutely was not having a dig at pep.

I think he's a great manager and has us playing unbelievable football which I'm sure will be successful.

I think he's a better manager overall than manuel.

But I don't now amd haven't ever understood the hate for manuel.

His record and achievements with us, especially given the circumstances he found himself in are magnificent.

I never got the hate. Don't understand it.

He was brilliant.

He is not having a dig at our current boss. He had a dig at unappreciative fans. And I am totally in agreement with him on that.

I don't know if he needed replacing. I do know the availability and willingness of Pep to come over, made it an irrelevant point. As Pep is like the Messi of coaching, if you can get him you do, regardless of who your current #10 is. So we did.

But as Pep's first year clearly showed all the silly claims of "we should have won more" with the squad Pellars had was mostly silly talk. Pep added 200 million of mercurial talent to that squad and still Couldn't win.

Showing how deficient that squad Pellars dragged to the semi was. At best, I'd say the squad needed an extreme infusion of talent. Which is what Pep found out when he got here.

If you can, you get Pep, but that was not proof there was anything wrong with Pellars. It was always our squad that lacked talent and Pellars did extremely well with what he had

So true.

Indeed he was, a great reader of the opposition, plus proven success, you don't see that too often. Don't
forget, he took Real Madrid to their highest ever points total, a brilliant manager.
