Marc Cucurella

Without wanting to come across all Liverpool Echo on this, my biggest concern was that we’d try and drag this out til the end of the window as a negotiation tactic in the hope Brighton would blink and reduce their valuation.

Which I don’t think was ever going to happen - leaving it way too late to bring in an alternative.

At least if he actually moves to Chelsea, we know he’s gone - which will force us to look at alternatives with plenty of time left to agree a deal.

So - here’s my take - why Cucurella moving to Chelsea is good for City!

Think we are ready to move away few days ago, we are just keeping tabs at Cucurella situation just in case in reality we already searching for his alternative.

Anyways off to watch grimaldo compilations on YouTube. Can almost guarantee we end up with him. He is cheap, has Barcelona connections and we have good relationship with benfica. Very underwhelmed if that is the case

At the end of last season were you desperate for us to sign Cucurella? If your weren't then your in the same boat as me and everyone else and certainly not for £50 million. If we sign Grimaldo, we will also sign Sosa.

If we have only bid 30m plus addons I can understand Brighton been pissed
Why? They paid £15m for him a year ago. That's over a 100% return

The lad has had one season in the PL, his form could've been a fluke, maybe not we'll see, but paying over 3 times what they paid is a gamble from our point of view.

Also i wonder if he's getting paid like a £50m player?
If not and Brighton think that's what he's worth and he's that good, if i was him, i would be requesting a significant pay rise!

The answer to this is very clearly because teams are willing to pay the 50m. Hence Chelsea shelling it out immediately once the city deal collapsed.

What makes you think we haven't already got at least one or two alternatives lined up?

And it's not like we haven't got a LB in Cancelo, with Ake as backup. Don't forget we aslo have JWE from the EDS who has featured at LB in pre-season.

Don't like to question the club because they get it right alot of the time. But letting one of the best left backs in the league last season go to Chelsea over 10 mil is a bit bad. Especially when the left back we have starting right now gets rinsed when ever he comes up against a winger with quality. I'm scared about what Bowen is going to do to him.
