Apologies if already posted. Marca's English site just posted this very interesting article. It's the first article about Soriano and Txiki's targets that sounds like it has an ounce of truth.

No Barça signings neither CR7 nor Mourinho

The arrival of Ferrán Soriano and Txiki Begiristain at Manchester City has sparked rumours that the English club is eyeing up half of Barcelona and the other half of Real Madrid. Nothing could be further from the truth however, as City isn't planning to fork out a lot of money on new signings.

What it has in mind is to spend €30 million on reinforcements, on top of the money made from selling off some players. A considerable number of players could be on the way out, as City is expecting to bring in around €40 million.

The club has no intention of signing any Barcelona players. It is not in a position to be in the bidding on account of the steep buyout clauses and high salaries of the Barça players. The only chance would be if a player publicly expressed a strong desire to leave the club.

If there is one name on the possible signing list however, then it is that of Guardiola. Chelsea has the advantage, as talks have been on-going between the two parties for a while now, and the former Barcelona coach has been offered the staggering net figure of €15 million a year. Nevertheless, if Begiristain decides that Mancini won't stay at City next season, the first person he will call is Guardiola.

One thing is for sure, Mourinho won't be going to City. He isn't the kind of manager the club is looking for; City wants someone else. Neither is Cristiano likely to be a new acquisition. City wants more affordable, hungry young players with ambition rather than established stars. The Malaga player Isco would fit the bill nicely.

Isco would fit the bill nicely.

I look at Europe's top sides - Barça München Dortmund Madrid Juve - none of them have four main strikers that play a lot. I'd sell one of our strikers to sign Isco.

We have six defensive mids with Yaya Milner Barry García Rodwell and Razak, for two positions in the starting XI. We have four attacking/creative mids with Silva Nasri Sinclair and Suarez for the same number of positions in the team, maybe even three places in the XI in some games and in some parts of some games. I don't think strikers should fill these attacking/creative mid positions, it think attacking/creative mids should.

But, we have Roberto. We don't need anyone else sat in the dugout at the moment. He's doing a good job and should be left to do it further. He's made mistakes, he'll make more mistakes, but he's doing a good job and I'd like to see him progress himself and us onto the next level, not see us try and reach that next level with someone else.

I'm with you on that. Mancini has taken us a long way in a fairly short time, and I see no point at all in changing our manager. He does make mistakes (like Savic) but this year rectified that with Nastasic, so lets give him time.

Nice read.

Tell me something new though as this is what I've thought for awhile now, not so much when Benitez joined Chelsea as it was clear to me then that Pep would possibly be joining them.

I would like to stick with Mancini as he's been a good servant to us but I felt the same about Hughes (at the time) haha so maybe bringing in Pep is best.

That is maybe the only part where the article is off base. I'm pretty sure that's not up to Txiki. However if the worst were to happen then he would have the strongest influence on would be the next manager. Hope we can get Isco tied-up.

I really want Isco to play us in Jan...for that happen we must sell and i think one of dzeko/ballo will make the space for him.

What a refreshing article.

By that i mean he tells it as it is without leaving the stench of the writers personal ego and feelings all over it.

Málaga have qualified for the Round of 16 in the CL so I can't see Isco leaving in January.

Not so sure, a lot can change in 6 months, as a pro-footballer, given option to make that switch i'd be tempted to take it whenever i could, rather than wait. And of course, players hold a lot of power now, so even if Malaga don't want to sell, he could probably force a move if it came to it. If we want someone in January, and he won't come, we might end up with someone else and his chance is gone.

It depends on how loyal he feels to Malaga and also if them still being in the CL bumps the price up too far.
