Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Marco Reus is attracting Premier League interest.

The 22 year-old midfielder has enjoyed an outstanding last 18 months and is now on the fringes of the German national team.

Kicker says Reus is now being scouted by Arsenal and Manchester City leading up to the January market.

Gladbach will be reluctant sellers and insiders say they will demand around £15 million should either City or the Gunners come knocking.

Here are his exploits from August

Get this kid in, looks like a perfect understudy for Silva.

Doesn't really look like an "unerstudy to Silva" tbh....

Seems to be pretty fast and able to play as a winger aswell.

I dont normally comment on transfer threads but this kid looks special

Very much like Marin but better. Scores for fun too. Reus is going to be a major player in a couple of years, and i have mentioned him before a few times on the board.
OP is spot on.

Balkano, i like you and your passion, but Adam Johnson is not better than Marco Reus. There is no way Johnno could do what Marco has done consistantly for a team like Monchengladbach for 3 years. Johnno is vastly overrated and you can see it on the pitch. Within about 5 mins last night Johnno had given the ball away in dangerous places twice. Balo had a go at him as did another player too.

Sorry, but Johnno has been built up by City fans and what is worse is he believes the hype around himself too.

I have not seen this kid play but he seems like too big a risk to take AJ's current role and top talented to be behind AJ (or someone else) in the rotation.

Ricster how do you have time to watch all these youngsters?

Thnx bud, same of you but lets get quality into this. Don t you think that Johnson would be showing hes quality if he would play the last 3 years every match like Reus did? I mean, ffs it s the german league - defence for shit. I don t ave to remind you what Fulham did. I m pretty sure AJ would bomb their league nd would ave a starting Position in every team there. On the other Side Reus would here been blocked and most likely play less than Johnson is already doing. I rather ave Milner, Barry, Hart, Johnson in the team than those overrated german imported Youngsters, who are realy flying on that hype you was talking bout.

One, but the best one, Indicator that their league ain t on the highest level is Borussia Dortmund (i like them). They was outplaying every team in Bundesliga home & away (belive they won the Championship by 10+ points) and tho didn t managed to came into the Europa League Knockouts.

We don t need those "talents" to fill our Squad, we already ave a brilliant one. Otherwise we would just block them in their rising - they should stay in Germany till they get 25 nd then we can talk bout quality.

There are enough feeds and time zones to fit in between 5 or 6 matches on a Saturday/Sunday.
Just depends how into it you are. If you see a player you think is worth following, you take a closer look at him and make a point of watching him a bit more regular, while still looking for others.
I used to love doing it as a kid on Championship Manager, so as i've grown older while i still enjoy FM, why not do it in real life, its much more enjoyable.

A great player is a great player. If you put Messi in the Polish league and he was raping defenders for fun, people would say its just the polish league. In fact alot of people were sceptical about Silva saying, the PL is completely different and la liga there's no defence.

In terms of talent Reus is much bigger talent than johnson. The guy would be a starter for Germany if it wasnt for Ozil and Gotze. Just compare that to Johnson who's being kept out by Walcott and Downing. He is far more complete footballer.

Reus>>Johnson.

In pace, crossing ability and vision. These things have relatively little to do with league competition. They exert class. Marco is better at controlling the tempo than Johnson, he has a much more dedicated work ethic on defence. He comfortably skins a defender 3-4 times a match.

I think his assist numbers are actually hindered by the fact that he plays on a squad that can't finish.

Reus has two caps in a German team that Adam Johnson wouldn't even get to train with. Sorry Balkanno but I have to disagree with you.

Yes, right you will tell me who has more talent. Please!

I ve said nd i won t change my mind untill Reus get s on the higher lvl nd show the same strenght. As for the "complete footballer" bs, hes fucking 21 he ain t near to be a complete footballer at all. Nd by far you must mean only unproven. That s correct.

Happy here, as long the club doesn t give a job to those 100.000 Internet managers.

I wouldn't say Reus is a complete player yet, but he isn't far off the finished article if truth be told. Reus is currently playing in the Fifa ranked 3rd best league in the world, and if you watch the Bundesliga, it is one of the more attacking leagues in the world too, which provides a lot of entertainment.

What i think is unfair and i dont believe has been taken into consideration at the moment either is the age of both player. Johnno is now 24 and if he does get better it will be pretty minimal, he lacks pace aswell so the only way he can get better is by adding more tricks to his game.

Reus on the other hand is still only 22 and has about another year or 2 in development stages before we seem him at his best. I think his consistancy to play week in week out to the level he does is very admirable too. If he dd move to the Prem you cannot judge him on his first season. As we have seen many times before players having average/good first season's and the second being good/quality 2nd season's.

If you were to take both players and go back to when both were the same age at say 20 or 21 years old you would have to admit that Reus would be most managers first pick over Johnno.

Not so much his position. His problems are Lukas Podolski/Andre Schürrle on the left and Thomas Müller on the right.

If you play counter attacking football as Gladbach does he is the perfect player as the vid shows. Don´t know how how would work in a dominant team like Bayern (they want him, too)

EXCLUSIVE Man City and Arsenal set for January battle over £15m German wonder-kid
Published 23:00 05/11/11 By Simon Mullock

Manchester City and Arsenal are ready to battle it out for Borussia Moenchengladbach wonder-kid Marco Reus.

The two Premier League clubs have constantly watched the 22-year-old midfielder continue to impress in the Bundesliga this season and sources in Germany expect them both to make a move in the January transfer window.

Moenchengladbach rate Reus at £15million, but are worried his valuation may start to fall with just over two years left on his contract.

They bought him from Borussia Dortmund for £800,000 just over two years ago and he has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting players in the country.

Reus made his international debut against Turkey last month and is in Germany’s squad for the forthcoming friendlies against the Ukraine and Holland.

Gemann giants Bayern Munich have already been linked with a move, but are unwilling to go anywhere near Moenchangladbach’s asking price.

Reus has explosive acceleration and excellent ball control as well as an eye for goal.

The transfer fee would not be a problem for City, but Arsenal’s need is even more acute with Arsene Wenger needing midfield recruits.

The question is where would he play for City? With Nasri and Johnson in the squad....I doubt City needs another attacking midfielder. Arsenal is desperate for him as there's only Ramsey and Rosicky who plays in his position. And Rosicky is coming to the end of his career. If City sign him, then what will happen to Nasri

Mike Rigg has confirmed to Bild in Germany that we have genuine interest in Reus and are watching him closely. Of course we're probably interested in a hundred other players and it doesn't necessarily mean a bid but it probably shows that papers like the Mirror aren't totally full of crap as they reported this before Rigg confirmed our interest.

He plays more as a left winger do its no aj's position but nasri.I think it's great the club are going for a right footer winger beacause we have none as Nasri is better inthe centre but 15m is a lot. I'd prefer hoilett who we could get cheaper as his contract runs out next June or wait and get him free transfer. He's stronger and won't need time to adapt to the Premier League

Does the player want to play in England? Not too many German internationals plying their trade abroad these days.
