Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Aye I see both sides of it, some parents will take advantage of the fact the government will feed their kids regardless of what money they are paid. But on the flipside for the amount it would cost per year to not let any child be at risk of going hungry is a worthy investment in society.

Then the only answer for you is for schools to provide meals for kids throughout their education. I think it’s a slippery slope but accept your point of view.

And people seem to forget that even nurses were going to food banks at the start of the pandemic and nowt much has moved that much, so what about other families not getting even that low income or single parents?

Marcus is now launching a Book Club so kids can experience the escapism reading provides, which is very cool.

The report continues 'because Marcus had to prioritise food over books as a child'

This is getting too much now, pass me the fucking sick bucket.......
The report also comments on children in vulnerable situations. For every mother like yours, there are also mothers who won't think to buy their kid a book, it will instead go on their own selfish needs, hence the vulnerable situation.

Like with the meals, he's doing something that he knows needs to happen. And fair play to him once more.

I don't believe a word of it pal.

He may have had it hard as a child, but so do millions and they get by.

I speak from experience......i had fuck all as a kid, free school meals, living in a cold, crumbling, house and dressed in hand me downs etc. My mum brought me and my brother up alone, with next to no income, but she always ensured we had an education.

There are libraries, charity shops etc.Books can always be sourced.
Oh I agree mate and as a kid growing up in Harpurhey the Cheetham Hill in the 70’s I know what it’s like.. hand me downs!! I was the oldest so got stuff for school of the neighbour who’s lad was in the year above... you can imagine how many times he let everyone know I was wearing his blazer or coat lol!!

You’re right about the books though, libraries and even charity shops provide them if needed and did when I was a kid at little cost, Christ I still buy the odd book from a charity shop.
I can see why he’s saying it, good PR and once again highlighting a good cause but he doesn’t need to play the poverty card at every turn. Just get him and he’s team mates plus speak to the City players and get them to part fund an initiative together. Once that’s out in the media the rest will follow.

Libraries have been around for years. Free books!
The fault here is that some parents never did, and still don't, instil in their children the beauty of books.
Books are better than the bloody TV!! Always drummed in us as kids to read, and usually anything that was lying about. Still go it to this day. Nothing better than a bit of light music on and a good book, can be doing that and before I know it it’s 2am or more.

We were the same. Still are! ;-)

I agree with the cause,we just don't need the PR bullshit that goes with it.It's wrong and it's bloody insulting.

As noted,Rashford has been in the Rag academy since aged 7,so even if his mum didn't or couldn't,and i strongly believe otherwise......do they not feed or educate them there?

What next, a spelling club? Free laptops for all kids and a free 2 week holiday to Disneyland. PR company playing a blinder, wonder if they are doing it all for nothing or to boost their own egos. Sir Marcus of Rashford is being played big time.

Hope you're not insinuating that Rashford MBE mum was a shit mother?
