Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Most if not all African players who become a prem star do similar to support their roots back home.

Was it Bellamy who also donated much to African charity?
South Americans as well. Richarlison, Alexis Sanchez, Mina, Firmino etc. A lot of African and South American players grew up in abject poverty - Richarlison's home area is notorious for gang crime - so it's not surprising they'd want to help people in the same situation as them.

Devil's advocate (no pun intended): would you all feel the same if Sterling or Foden was doing something similar or is it just because Rashford is a rag?

What do you mean would I feel the same?
The same as what?

When you say "would you all..." I presume you mean the ones who are (shall we say) a little cynical? Because that isn't all of us.

Would you still be cynical about it and claiming they're just doing it for attention, it's a PR campaign by the club etc?
Some people here are just desperate to show themselves that they are the biggest of the blues but in reality are a blot on our fans. People who are questioning Rashford should really have a long hard look at what they have done in life. Maybe this is their way to portray them as smart which they are not.

So what part of the many things l have said about this campaign make me a blot? He has not done a huge amount but he has certainly raised the profile on the issue school meals in the holidays and his concern seems genuine so l will willingly credit for that.
Did you also believe the media particularly the BBC (again) led claiming the innocence of Slabface Magliar? Did you agree that the attempt by the rags and dippers to control football was good for the game?

For anyone interested in actually helping to end child food poverty, rather than cheap point scoring based on club rivalries, here's the petition. Up to 220,000 signatories already.

Is that a reply to me?
No, it's a general comment, I've seen a few people slagging Rashford off and saying he's doing it to distract people from him getting an illegal tat and he never went hungry growin up and so on.

And no, I don't approve of Slabhead trying to bribe his way out (and I'd be equally disgusted if Pickford or whoever did it) or the two horrible red teams trying to boss the PL either.

Rashford should be commended for his work on the free school meals. And the petition started by him is also admirable and a good start to ending child poverty.
However that is all it is, a start. It will take more than the recommendations in the petition to end child poverty, a hell of a lot more. So hopefully once the government implement free school meals in the holidays , which they will as they will think it will make them popular, people like Rashford carry on with the fight, as there will still be a long way to go to end child poverty, and they don't just think that the problem is solved.

First of all I did not direct that post at you.
Secondly, what more do you want him to do? He is a professional footballer and he is doing the best he can. Not everything has to be an agenda by the rival clubs. You seem to think that everything is a conspiracy by the rags and dippers. Hilarious.

That boundary to separate football, it's rivalry and things that aren't to do with football is yet to be broken by some.
The filter isn't there.

What more can he do hes a professional footballer. He has more time than anyone, more avenues ,more influential people to grab. Dont get me wrong I like the bloke and hes doing a good job. But there are hundreds who do more without a pot to piss in day in day out who have never and will never get the arse licking or a MBE

I get it. But atleast he is doing something. So we have no right to question his intentions.

Agree he could have made this more of a story by refusing the MBE, just by saying he has done nothing compared to others , he was using his position to highlight how bad things are in Britain in 2020. Nothing wrong with that, he help embarrass the government and helped to get kids fed. Instead he took the badge so he could put a few letters after his name at the first opportunity.
For my work of delivering food to food banks I was given a thank you badge which said ' I fed Thanet 2020 ', I didnt want it but the lady wouldnt take no for an answer so it's in a draw somewhere. I didnt feel I had done anything special compared to others that run the fun banks. Yes I know it was only a little badge.
I guess everyone is different some people like to be praised and some like me get embarrassed by being thanked.

Now dont get me wrong by using his position he has helped, but so do many other sports man and woman.

Rashford must think he is worth an MBE it's his choice lots of people turn down awards and thats their choice.

I hope he carries this on for years even after he retires, because to get the MBE after only a few months work would be embarrassing !

Total respect and admiration to Rashford. He's doing something about a problem that should not exist and he is so genuine.
