Marega/Porto Racism Incident

The worst thing is his team mates dragging him trying to keep him on and his manager.

Football’s ‘win at all costs’, even if it means throwing your morals and dignity in the bin, is why I now hate the sport.

the mind set might be ‘if you walk off the pitch, you let the racists win’

The problem will never be solved, and the conflict at it's source never eradicated for the authorities that be fail to identify those very terms. What exactly is racism and racial abuse? At what point is a footballer racially abused? And what boundary is there to demarcate racial abuse from plain abuse? Should the authorities', and attendances' for that matter, duty be to eliminate all kind of abuse? That would be very kind of them, but we should first ask ourselves if those involved in the perpetration of such abuses are elements pertaining strict to the football environment, or if, conversely, they come from a far larger and diverse background. How is one to solve the problem of racism in football supporters that attend matches in stadiums, if these persons are not solely football supporters in their lives, but rather components of a society. Racism is not a problem specific to football, but to all societies, and until it will not be solved there, it's a mere hoax to imagine that it could be solved in a restricted domain.

They are doing nothing about it. It’s considered ok to do that. Disgusting. They should be made to play 5 home games behind closed doors.

He also thanked the referee today for booking him as he left the field. What a jobsworth wanker.

Sadly we are unlikely to see a World Cup Finals competition held in Africa any time soon. Can you imagine the outrage if white English, German, Serbian, Italian players were racially abused by a majority black crowd in a game held in Nigeria or South Africa?
