mario

i honestly disagree with some of the people who say mario didnt try etc,

he was a marked man in this league, referees never gave him any decisions, opponents always had sly digs at him, he didnt score enough no, but this season his general on the ball play and movement off it was spot on in my eyes.

he's perfectly suited to the italian league.

in the pl you don't get the space for his long shots and you get less time on the ball.

i wish him all the best.

Ask Jamie Redknapp his opinion of Mario, if it agrees with yours, then you can see what type of company you're in.

I don't really buy this.
By the sounds of it, PL defending is top of the pops

Great to see Mario sticking two fingers up to his doubters..especially so-called media experts like Alan (you never win anything with kids) Hansen. He may be a lunatic off the field but he is supremely talented..and City have missed his presence in the second half of this season.

rubbish, maybe in midfield... but 25 yrds from goal or so, you're given no space in serie a, much less long range goals scored there than the epl

Mario seems rejuvenated by the move

Referees gave him loads of decisions. Some refs - Mike Dean and Howard Webb, for example, both did this - used to go and have little chat with him throughout the game to make sure he was okay (what more can you ask for?). Clettenberg sent off Johnny Evans for bringing him down, Webb didn't send him off for the blatant flick at Parker's head and the gave him a penalty in the last minute to win the game. These are just big decisions off the top of my head, he probably got dozens if I really thought about it.

Also opponents didn't always have sly digs at him, some tried it on - West Ham, Blackburn, United games spring to mind - but not many at all really.

His time at City was hit and miss and a lot of it was down to himself and his own downfalls. His attitude and application in some games was appalling. He had more unacceptable performances than brilliant ones for us.

This is coming from a fan of Mario. I like him. I always will. I'm pissed off with him for all those games he was a waste of time because of how good he can be. Blaming everyone else but him for his downfalls is a cop-out.

Balotelli isn't really a "long shot" player, as he doesn't drop that deep very often, and in attacking play is around the box. Gerrard has scored many long range goals, so you do get the space, and time. I think the standard of defending in the PL is quite poor.
