Marks & Spencer Christmas advert taken down

It does seem over the top but the context for this is m and s links with Israel. Think this criticism is a continuation of attempts to boycot Israeli goods or businesses with links to Israel

I suspect that those who have complained don't shop at M&S. Whatever advert they put out there will be someone who will take offence. I thought that the complaint was gonna centre on the dangerous aspect of shoving Christmas hats on an open fire!
Reckon there will be plenty of rag shirts chucked into bonfires this weekend l.

A Palestine flag never occurred to me. I assumed the advert was removed because they were worried that it might encourage kids or pissheads to throw paper hats on the fire and increase the risk of burning down their house. Or that they should be recycling them, not burning paper.

In my opinion, yes. Some people just live to be offended. Serious question; who could take serious offence at that ad? Even the most staunch pro-Israeli person (without the "issue" being pointed out to them) surely wouldn't be upset at such an ad.

No I wouldn’t but in the scheme of things it’s a nothing event.

FYI

Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination". Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial justice, sexism and LGBT rights.

As for who runs the world, my take is that it is the super wealthy companies and individuals who buy politicians, media and an army of propagandists to control and set the agenda. Your post is just a small result of their activities.

Divide and conquer.

And, in your opinion, does that ad promote racial prejudice and/or discrimination?

And the word has been weaponised by the likes of Katie Hopkins and fed into the culture wars in order to keep the divide bubbling away, and her own media profile visible.

M+S has decided to withdraw an ad which might be interpreted as offensive, in the context of a current geopolitical and humanitarian crisis.
Why would some people get so enraged at this decision, given the context?
Drinking too much of the Culture Wars Kool-Aid?
