Marouane Fellaini

Not really. Surely we could sign 17 top class non-english players and just register 8 English players from our youth team?

I'm not suggesting this is what we do but its a way around paying through the nose for some run of the mill Englishman

This is a common misconception on these boards - Chelsea played last year with only Turnbull, Lampard, Terry and Cole as their HG over-21s. We already have Milner, Lescott, Hart, Given, Taylor, SWP, Barry, Johnson, Richards - loanees aside, that's a massive NINE.

RE: Fellaini - sorry, if you think he's a poor player then you're not exactly football-clever. He's a wonderful player, and would fit into either the Barry role, or deputise for Yaya in the more advanced midfield role. He's also a Belgian, our favourite nationality.

This is also the area that needs most urgently strengthened - Vieira played thirty games last season, and Barry and Yaya were run into the ground in Feb/March.

Finally, some sense.

Wants to leave the blue bin dippers maybe .. would he fit into our system anywhere ..

Marouane Fellaini has raised doubts about his Everton future by revealing he wants to play in the UEFA Champions League.

The Toffees are keen to tie down the Belgium international to a new contract, but as yet no new deal has been agreed.

Fellaini, who has two years left on his current terms, has cast doubt on his Goodison Park stay by claiming he wants to be playing at the highest level.

"One thing is certain, I want to play in a team that wins trophies and plays in the Champions League," Fellaini is quoted as saying in the News of the World.

"But Everton is a team below the top level."

He's a fucking donkey. No thanks.

I remember watching a Belgium match around 4 years ago before him and Vince were in plying their trade in the prem.

Vince got sent off that match, but Fellaini actually out shone Vince and at the time I wondered should we make a bid for him.

Even though things have changed somewhat I still think he would do a great job for us in midfield and if Yaya gets injured we will seriously be without height in midfield.....Besides won't Yaya be off to the African nations for the whole of January?

I'd stick a crafty bid in there......You never know with the likes of Vinny, Fellaini and Boyata we may attract another Belgium player????

Good player but a very bad injury record already for a relatively young guy.
He is way better than Rodwell at this stage, although the latter probably has more potential.
Haven't Chelsea been heavily linked for the last 18 months or so?
I actually think he would be a good fit for Arsenal, seeing as they are allegedly so desperate for midfield steel that they are considering a move for Joey Barton.
Not sure Wenger would spend the necessary to sign Fellaini though. Maybe they would have to sacrifice Fabregas or Nasri.

No, he's not. He's tidy, strong, has a good shot and is a massive aerial threat too. And he's only 23. He'd be the ultimate Yaya deputy, and can play further back too.

We currently have Milner, Yaya, Barry and Nigel for those three midfield spots, so another good player is a must. Aside from the less realistic names like Schweinsteiger, Fabregas or Martinez, who else do you suggest?

-- Sun Jun 19, 2011 2:13 pm --

Yup - it'd make us pretty attractive to the likes of De Bruyne, Witsel, Lukaku (if he's not already Chelsea-bound), Vertonghen and Hazard.

OOOOHHH Yes he is! He's an absolute Grade-A donkey! Tony Adams with an afro. I watched plenty of him these last few seasons, he typifies the kind of industrial football they choose to play at Everton. He just puts himself about and scores a few scrappy headers here and there. He's not worthy of deputizing for Yaya, they’re both tall, the similarities ends there.

We need a creative ball-playing midfielder, Pastore, Modric, Pjanic, Mata, Hazard, Hamsik, there’s just a few off the top of my head.

Show some ambition!
