Just had this emailed through to me, anyone else heard anything?

Apparently, the first goal of the FA Cup final was "fixed"

4 players are involved.

A Mirror journalist posted the following on a Blackburn forum:

"Might be a very big story hitting football world later in the week. But I can't say just yet."

"I can't say what the tale is but it is a very interesting one...I would love to go into some detail but there are people who keep an eye on titbits and can let you down. I can't write it just now because I've been sworn to secrecy on this for the moment.

There could be an announcement on this on Tuesday - but it is relating to something that happened just over a month ago.

It will be the first time this has happened and it will be interesting to see how football handles it.

Hoping to be able to write this but it is a very hard one to touch until it goes 'official.'

Rest assured it doesn't affect your club but it will cause an awful lot of talk...and raise some serious questions."

"I won't go into the whole thing as it's not my place to say, but basically OASAAS has a contact high up who says that 'allegedly' 4 players will be in big big big f*ck with the FA and police soon due to 'allegedly' match fixing for the first goal scored during a very prestigeous game in May, I won't name names but I can certainly say I was happy to see at least one of them mentioned!

Apparently the talk is of 4 year bans.

Again nothing to do with me just passing on OASAAS' info.

Looking at Saha's goal again - that has to be some fix.

If a Chelsea player had patted the ball down with his hand, I would agree - fix, but . . . . . . . . . . There are eight million variables in this naked game, oops, just got slightly carried away, and those just cover the period from kick off to goal.

I also hear that the US trips to the Moon were also a fix.

I can;t see with the money they are on, that any player in this country would consider it,let alone 4 in one game.I smell somthing here.If it is true then it will be one of the most disapointing things in football ever and a liftime ban would be req

This exact same email is being cut and pasted on forums all over the internet.

I reckon its a spammer of some sort just causing mischief.

Start a rumour and then see how far it goes......we'll have the FA making a statement by the end of the week.

Its all bullshit IMO.

When you think about realistically, it wouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility for single players to fix the outcome of a game. Goalkeepers would find it easiest to do and I suppose other players could try and do it by deliberately conceding a penalty, but obviously no guarantees there.

It would be no great surprise to hear about the odd individual getting involved in such stuff. In fact the growth in internet betting since the grobbelar days probably make it more likely now than it was then.

But 4 players in one match sounds impossible to me.
