Not a great first 45 from us, but understandable given the relative lack of pre-season games we've had compared to Liverpool. We were bound to look a bit rusty. Hopefully a couple of changes at half-time can shake things up a bit. I'd like to see Stones and Foden on for Ake and Mahrez initially.

Mahrez is well undercooked. He’d have probably scored otherwise.

To be fair, Pep wanted to give them a decent break, so it will inevitably take a while for the team to bond in and out of the changing room. It might be a bit rocky for the first month or two, but when they have had more game time you can see already from the rusty first half that things will click before long. Liverpool have played far more games than us.

Haaland made about three or four great runs in behind in that half but was ignored as we just kept the ball doing nothing with it. Seems it's going to take a while to learn how to play with a striker again.

Better than when they started. Still haaland is underutilised. Grealish and mahrez not good enough. Cancelo caught out of position a lot. Kdb not having a good game. No idea what Bernardo is doing.
On plus side We will only get better from here.

Bernardo is a headless chicken where he is playing, never looks comfortable in central midfield. Definitely no David Silva

Still think that's a nailed on penalty and definitely given at the other end.

It should have been a penalty. He would have awarded a free kick if it was outside the box. He didn't get near any of the ball and blocked off Mahrez. It's a foul.

I think he has made a few great runs, but Mahrez especially is just not calibrated for early low through balls/crosses to find him. It also hasn’t help that Kev had a mare and Grealish is back to holding the ball too long.

Mahrez is going to have to be sat down and it explained to him, that we have a striker now and cutting inside all the time robs said striker of space and options , get the ball across the box that's what Haaland wants and needs .
