Awful. They've clearly identified Walker as a weak point. He can do inverted against some teams, but he's probably our worst player on the ball (certainly out of the ones being asked to play in midfield) and then when you turn it over, he's now massively out of position. Normally he'd have most wingers in his back pocket all game, but today he's starting from a position of being 10 yards behind the play.

Id get Grealish on for Foden and drop Bernie into midfield or swap him for Mahrez. This is a game where a pacy wide player would be helpful as we could stretch them when St Maximim pushes forward. Maybe Alvarez just for chaos and energy

Phil needs to wake up. Either arrogance or poor football intelligence but he has been below his standard so far this season

Hopefully Pep acknowledges that ASM has been given the freedom of St James and does something about it. The players need a bit of a rocket too, we’ve played ‘nicely’ in the main, they are playing like their life depends on the outcome.

We need to lift it all over.

They are that rabid I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a red for one of them, crank up the pressure and intensity and they are still here for the taking.

Time for a Pep rocket at halftime
To himself! This is 100% on him. We’re playing fucking 2 at the back, and we’ve got the best right back in the country playing centre mid when their only real and dangerous threat is playing on the left and terrorising poor John stones who is being totally left for dead. The worst tactic I’ve ever seen by Pep. Total brain fart. If he doesn’t change that now and play Walker as a normal right back we’ll concede 4

Don’t understand the rationale of having Walker so far infield when ASM is getting down that left hand side so easily. Keep it as it is just spread out and match their width

There are certain teams who have all the tools to cause us problems. Newcastle are one of them.

They have the strength, pace and directness of Saint-Maximem and Wilson and the ability not to panic and pick a pass in midfield from Bruno and Joelinton.

I hope we’re not watching Walker lose his pace because it’s one thing getting beat for pace of Saint-Maximem, it’s another being breezed past by Willock.

That said, we’ve been hassled and bullied off Newcastle so far who have been excellent.

Masters of our own downfall in that first half. Couldn't have asked for a better start going 1-0 up, We all knew we would have to weather a storm at some stage in the game and we failed to do so.

Playing Walker and Cancelo as inverted full backs out of possession is criminal, Depending on our centre backs 1 v 1 against Saint Maximin is a game Russian roulette.

Having said that Phil Foden should have learned his lesson from last week and slipped in Haaland to make it 2-0 and the game is dead and buried.
