Hi all,

Just after some advice about match day parking. I've booked to park at the ground for the PSG game as it was only £8 and I'm taking my lad. I'd usually park a good walk away but want to get him back after the game quickly.

Any advice on arrival times and what it's like getting away? Is it a case of just driving in, finding a space and heading to the ground?

Any info appreciated.
Cheers

Usually long queues to get away after the game. If you get there earlier you get a bay closer to the exit but it's a while since I parked there - a night time Carabao game I think it was - and when I did it took us an hour to get out (because I was at the far side of the car park), it really was wacky races with cars going in all directions and then more time to get onto and traverse Alan Turing Way. Yesterday I think the traffic management was a little different and ATW was backed up going north towards Miles Platting and this affected the street parking spaces and car parks from off the side roads as they couldn't join ATW like they normally can.

Thanks.

I'm planning on getting there nice and early so we can get a decent space to get out but we'll see what happens.

Big question is where you head home direction wise really.

I used it for Palace game, was a bit whacky races type of thing, but yesterday was fine, seem to flow out nice and easy, left at lights,as we do,(if you are turning right towards Asda, bad bews),and I was away dead quick.

I'm also booked on for Wednesday, could be a lot busier, and I'm also on for West Ham on Sunday,so it's trial and error for now I think.

But considering our usual car park is no longer,it's the only option for closeness to the ground, but not experienced these horror queues.........................yet

Is the velodrome car park still open ? Or any tips to park Droylsden side of the stadium ? Do they still enforce parking zones ?

Velodrome shut at the minute - spoke to the guy on Sunday and he said maybe 2 years. They have a grant to do it all up inside so the car park is full of containers instead.

Your user name is very appropriate for this topic. The Mancunian Way is the biggest car park after the game. A car broke down the other week under the flyover near the lights at Regent Road. Horrendous.

Just bear in mind Briscoe Lane was shut after the Everton game
The level crossing on Graver Lane was also closed last weekend, which meant I had to go all the way round through Droylsden, and then via Daisy Nook and Fails worth to get back to Newton Heath.
It's all open and accessible again now though.

Have paid to park in the blue car park this evening.
My son has just gone to his car to find some twat has smashed into it. Will have to go in mine but the car parking is for his car. Is it easy to change to another car ?? Just about to leave :/

Thanks

You can change it on the City website by completing a form within the Parking FAQ's (where you booked the parking) up until 4 hours before KO.

Can you park on Asda car park without any problems does abybody know ?
All usual car parks are full.

You can, you get 4 hours free I think - more than enough time if you get there half an hour before kick off like we do. It's just an absolute nightmare to get out of it. We used it for Leeds and it took about an hour to leave.

We park there sometimes too, great if you can get out before the traffic backs up to the roundabout, once it does it’s a long wait until the lights at junction of Alan Turing Way & Ashton New Road come off red and traffic slowly starts to flow. Think those lights are held for the away coaches to leave?

Yeah I think if you’re prepared to leave early (not saying that’s you) then you can miss the long wait otherwise you have to be really lucky.

Where else do you park?

Don’t leave early :-) we’re aisle 141 and block B so pretty much a straight line across the car park to Asda. Used to park at velodrome or sometimes we park and ride the tram from Ashton Moss.

Always park on the blue carpark at the ground ,just realized we have missed the email for parking for utd and sporting as there was no mention of pre booking car parking in the email header ,has anyone gone on the car park without paying and been sent to a steward and been allowed to pay ,or is Asda or the velodrome an option as I darnt risk street parking as it's a company lease car
Thanks
