Maximo Perrone to Como | Romano reports fee of €13m agreed

I doubt that, I think some will go down giving more of a chance to youth.

I.e. If you join our Academy here at Crewe as opposed to City you’ll stand more chance of playing for the first team.

I know a kid got released from City and straight away loads of other clubs where interested as he had City training.
They will have the same chance.....not a great one. Every year, an age group squad of players 'become available' to every team, most are loaned/sold or released.
The kid you know had interest because those clubs thought he might become good enough to play for them, or would be able to sell him on for a few quid.....the fact he 'was at City' is totally irrelevant to his ability.

didn’t he have another loan year left anyways? So why are we selling him if he is going to be worth 40+ next year? Or is it because of the stuff we going to do this summer? Even reis cost more and he is from Brazil.

I don't know why we are selling him.
Just let him continue on with his loan at Como.

Decent player, decent price. Clearly gonna be lost in the rebuild shuffle, once he asked to leave he was gonna be granted it.

We definitely overpaid on Reis.

Viana really pushed it by all accounts as he was heading to Real Madrid. We had to blow them out the water to get him.

Good money. But i think we've underestimated the talent. Im not sure Gonzo is any better. And yet we paid 50 million for him and Nunez each. When we had an 11 million player who was q
a better fit.

And folks cant say we didn't know. He showed more than enough in his cameo that he was a great fit.

But hey, we are here now.

He is a talent but sometimes players don't want to stay. We can say that they are not patient, and they can say that they don't believe they will get the chance. Either way, he wanted to stay at Como and they wanted him.

Sorry, but that just makes me laugh. Who are all of these players we've sold "too cheap"?
Palmer the obvious one. Delap we sold for £15m, he's about to be snapped up for double and that's considered a bargain. Pedro porro we sold for £8m to have spurs buy him 12 months later for 40. Frimpong is potentially going to the dippers for 40. Lavia was sold for £15m and Chelsea bought him 12 months later for 40. Villa got £42m for Douglas luiz after buying him for about 12 from us.

It's not simply about the difference in sales figures though, it's relative to what the same money gets elsewhere. If we're buying perrone this summer from como rather than selling him, are we getting him for £25m? We paid more for a kid that's played 18 professional games, that's not a knock on him, just an indication of the market.

We're best in class for a lot of things behind the scenes. Getting maximum value from youth sales is an area we can and should improve on.

But, as is often said here, these are players we let go before they had the chance. Delap is 30m because he is now an established PL player, as are the others.

and all those fees come with sell-ons and have a good 5-10 million, coming on the next move etc. Usually equates for the kicker in price for the next club, you want him, you cover Citys % then or fuck off.

I don't deny that. I'm not one for saying play all the kids, typically top clubs can't bring through academy players for fun and win things, we have to sacrifice a few kids for trophies and I'm fully on board with that.

A lot of these kids have come right through the academy, we know or we should know their potential, we have a proven track record now of producing quality players and that should warrant a premium sales price.

Before Barca were a shitshow and couldnt afford to buy a player, they was selling academy players for a premium because they had come through la Masia and that brought with it a certain expectation of quality that allowed them to get top money, we now have that same prestige in our academy and it's time we start applying that CFA premium to our sales.

And there is a chance not a single one of them would have developed into the players that warranted those fees if they didn't move in the first place

Development isn't linear and plenty of players we've sold haven't gone on to be good enough

Of those you listed, Palmer & maybe Porro/ Frimpong are the only ones that are good enough to play for us, and that's only because we have no RB it's not like either of those 2 have anything on a prime walker

Keeping a loan army is cool and all but that's what Chelsea used to do and it doesn't work, players need to know their future not getting passed from club to club and area to area

Bcoz we sign players with potential and then sale for some other players who put a big dent in form of wages and amortisation
Phillips Gundo Bernardo with high wages and less output taking up places while their alleged replacements or sales are rocking it up elsewhere

Have to accept the two things are independent.

Whether the additional wages are not used as they should is the question not how that amount has been created.

Also Bernardo is Bernardo, we have to accept it!

Thats true but we know Perrone has had a very good season and several clubs are interested in him.
He has been called up to the Argentinian senior team albeit for 2 friendlies
We had agreed a 2 year loan with Como for him and I see no reason why we shouldn't follow that up.
The worst that can happen is that he has a stinker of a season and his value drops.

Which answers your question of why we're selling him now

He could be worth £35 next season or £15mil....but right now the club feel £25mil is fair value to add funds to THIS window
