Its a chance worth takingWhich answers your question of why we're selling him now
He could be worth £35 next season or £15mil....but right now the club feel £25mil is fair value to add funds to THIS window

The club appear to disagree. Its a chance worth taking
Mainoo could be a very good player, in the right team. The club appear to disagree.
BTW Kobbie Mainoo has 10 England caps to his name, is that worth more than Perrone's 2 Argie friendlies?
We are getting a CFA premium selling the layers for good money who have basically no experience with usI don't deny that. I'm not one for saying play all the kids, typically top clubs can't bring through academy players for fun and win things, we have to sacrifice a few kids for trophies and I'm fully on board with that.
A lot of these kids have come right through the academy, we know or we should know their potential, we have a proven track record now of producing quality players and that should warrant a premium sales price.
Before Barca were a shitshow and couldnt afford to buy a player, they was selling academy players for a premium because they had come through la Masia and that brought with it a certain expectation of quality that allowed them to get top money, we now have that same prestige in our academy and it's time we start applying that CFA premium to our sales.
Don’t forget the sell on clauses thoPalmer the obvious one. Delap we sold for £15m, he's about to be snapped up for double and that's considered a bargain. Pedro porro we sold for £8m to have spurs buy him 12 months later for 40. Frimpong is potentially going to the dippers for 40. Lavia was sold for £15m and Chelsea bought him 12 months later for 40. Villa got £42m for Douglas luiz after buying him for about 12 from us.
It's not simply about the difference in sales figures though, it's relative to what the same money gets elsewhere. If we're buying perrone this summer from como rather than selling him, are we getting him for £25m? We paid more for a kid that's played 18 professional games, that's not a knock on him, just an indication of the market.
We're best in class for a lot of things behind the scenes. Getting maximum value from youth sales is an area we can and should improve on.
Fit anymore ifs and buts in there? As soon as rodri was injured, we should have recalled him. If we didn't have such a clause then that's on us.
He might not have liked it, but he would have adjusted and been fine as he is young enough and would be getting plenty of minutes.
That would have saved us the money on Nico.
In 2 years max, he will be leaving Como, as he will have outgrown the easy and unambitious life there.
Como is a resort town with a population of 80,000 odd. They will never grow significantly beyond what they are, regardless of what their ambitions are.
Frustrating on our part.

Ok, I'll bite.Fit anymore ifs and buts in there?
Point still stands as we bought nico at the end of JanuaryEven if we could have recalled him in September, he wasn’t named in the PL squad so wouldn’t have been able to play until January anyway.
Had one beer before the game thanks.Ok, I'll bite.
What are you on about there?
Are you on the piss?
Ok.Had one beer before the game thanks.
But I'll explain if you must. Your post is filled with "ifs and buts".
99.9% of all loan deals involving any loan fee, especially one thats originally planned for two years will have no recall clause, so completely irrelevant. Not in favour of the loanee club at all, why would they agree to it?
"He might not have liked it, but he would have adjusted and been fine as he is young enough and would be getting plenty of minutes.
Your damn right he wouldn't have liked it, starter at a club in Serie A to sat on the bench for City. What a great sales pitch to him and to anyone else. We have absolutely no idea if he would have settled and performed at all.
What about the Como project is unambitious, what a ridiculous thing to say. As for him outgrowing Como,we will find out.
Id rather we had the 25m in the coffers for any of our actual targets this summer instead.
You can't unilaterally recall a loan player mid season first off.As soon as rodri was injured, we should have recalled him. If we didn't have such a clause then that's on us.

I doubt there was any clause that allows us to do that and even if there was I'm still not understanding why we would do it.Ok.
Agree regarding the loan fee, but they may have penalties for us in case loan is canceled by us. Not sure how much it would have been as he had only one season at Girona and another at ours. Can't imagine it being that much, but accept your premise.
I agree with the clubs policy regarding not keeping players against their will. My problem here is that we brought him here and he hasn't established himself yet but is dictating terms, whereas others like couto would publicly state that their goal is to become a starter at city.
As far as Como is concerned, I never stated that Como is unambitious, I said that regardless of what their ambitions are, they will struggle to grow, unless they fly in spectators from the rest of Lombardy, and last I checked, Brescia has its own team for a population of 1.2 million vs Como's 80,000. Maybe i am wrong here and some of our Italian residents can enlighten me.
Glad you were having a beer. I was consuming antacids while watching that ineffective performance today.
Because we've needed cover for Rodri for some timeYou can't unilaterally recall a loan player mid season first off.
Why is selling him frustrating on our part?
We've needed cover for Rodri for some time. That's why we would do it. Didn't really see the need for a two year loan. As soon as we decided that, it was obvious the lad wasn't coming back.I doubt there was any clause that allows us to do that and even if there was I'm still not understanding why we would do it.
In what way is the lad dictating terms?
What does the population of Como have to do with anything, What's the relevance.
Can Perrone only perform when he's playing in a big city?
Let's get it right, he's been a good 7/10 for Como over one season, he's not tearing the league apart. 25m is a more than fair valuation.
No argument from me...
Not really got anything to add to this discussion, so enjoy the rest of your weekend bud.
Good question. Might be official on paper but there’s nothing on the interwebs confirming itHas he actually been sold.
Saw where Fabregas may be replacing Inzaghi at Inter and may want to take one or two players from Como with him.
Perrone was one of those mentioned.
