Mayhem with MIBs at the game

Some footage has surfaced of some proper nawty behaviour from the MIB over the weekend. Not suitable for those of a nervous disposition. Someone could get startled. You have been warned.

Eccles, in my experience, is the one place in Greater Manchester where you will still see people wearing rags clobber when everyone else is too embarrassed.

That said, I was in Greggs in Eccles a couple of weeks ago and a lovely old woman was wearing a Utd rucksack and hat. Me and r kid asked her if she was a big Utd fan. She replied “no” and said these were the cheapest items in the charity shop.

I know we have an OSC Branch of City diehards in Eccles btw.

Haha love that little story I'd have been in hysterics if I'd heard her come out with that. Old dears with no filter are great.

When i first starting going as a very young kid circa 1968 my grandad or dad lifted me up and carried me through with
him and always said " future supporter " ,they probably did that till they could feasibly get away with it, even though by todays prices it was peanuts anyhow .I know you can still take an under 5 in free now too.

It really does sadden me how many people just can't afford the high cost of prem tickets.Me and my lad are very lucky with our cheap ss3 season tickets.
Same year as me mate one of my first memories is when gateman wouldn't let my old fella lift me over turnstile and dads mate telling him he'd rob a blind man :-) half a crown it was to get into Kippax and a shilling for the programme.

There are more match going Blues in Stretford than rags. It wasn’t always like that of course but most people who say they support the rags never go to games. There are rags who work for Trafford Council from Salford, in my experience.
In my experience I think you could say that about most districts in and around (greater) Manchester

It's almost like Salford still has a distinct identity, it doesn't anymore it's been taken up into the unban sprawl of Manchester, like other places it's seen as a district of Manchester

As a born and bred Ecclesian I reckon it’s a 50/50 split between City and Trafford United in Eccles.
Wasn’t always that way. When I was younger it was hard being a City supporter but we’ve grown.
I grew up in Ordsall - proper bandit country in the 70's/80's - there were a few of us but, we never got any mither even on derby day apart from the usual piss taking.

They hated City though and we of course hated nytid.

There was none of this dipper/rag bollox either!

We all hated scousers regardless of football allegiances maybe it was something of a hangover from the docks - just knew from a very young age Manchester/Salford good - liverpool bad.

Eccles did seem to have a fair few Blues back in the day too as did Higher Broughton.

I’ve heard the rags have even lost a lot of support in Little Hulton. Crazy times!
I moved to Little Hulton at 11 & started secondary school there when my mum shacked up with a rag arsehole. 6 Long years there surrounded by Rags and strangely Liverpool fans (They were successful in the 80s) In my year there was 1 other City fan and a Bolton fan, in the whole year group we were the only 3 that regularly went to matches, the rest just said they supported rags or Liverpool. On my reluctant visits to my mum's whose still there paying for her sins its quite funny to see all the city shirts flags etc on display 30 years later,
