I was watching the live broadcast of the Zenit v Spartak match on Sunday. Technically wasn't the Russian league but a Cup tie. The Cup this year has four-team groups in the early phase, with teams playing each other twice, to create extra fixtures with Russian teams excluded from UEFA competitions. When there's a draw, each team earns one point and then there's a penalty shoot-out where the winners take an extra point.
This happened just after the final whistle in what had been until then a rather tedious goalless draw. In injury time, a Zenit player was booked for a bad foul and you could see some verbals between him and a couple of Spartak players after that incident. When the ref blew for time, it all kicked off and what's shown there is a relatively brief summary of it. It was quite funny watching the respective teams, once they'd been pulled apart, standing in two separate groups on the sidelines and waiting for the penalties for ages while VAR went over the incident in great detail.
Eventually three players were sent off from each side, but it could easily have been a lot more. I presume they stuck with that number because, if one side had gone down below seven, they'd have had to abandon the match and the penalty shoot-out couldn't have taken place. Great entertainment, though - much better than the game itself.
