Even by the Guardian's standards this is low....

Football plays with fire as it merrily fans the flames of hate and division

....Football rage is there most obviously in the self-contained shout-box inanities of the internet. At last weekend’s FA Cup final there was a minor media furore as a lone, well-refreshed Manchester City supporter stormed the press box and began to offer up rambling brain-thoughts about anti-City bias, conspiracies against the little man and the inexplicable trend for publishing newspaper articles about Premier League golden boot winner Mohamed Salah.

It became a kind of confirmation event, proof that the angry social media presence among City’s fanbase is indeed present in the flesh; a support that appears to have never been so upset even while watching their team win a sublime domestic treble....

This tribalism has been weaponised, expertly. Firstly by broadcasters and newspapers, who have become practised in fanning the idiot wind. Red against blue, super Sunday showdowns, overheated clickbait feuds. All of this has been good for business. And secondly by something more sinister and managed. Like Orwell’s two minutes in 1984, rage can be a useful thing too.

City are right to resist Uefa’s investigation into financial fair play if they feel it is in error. They may well be exonerated at the end. But the tone of this resistance, the aggressive statements, the idea put out there that this is all some ill visited on the disempowered, is at best cloth-eared and at worst a glimpse of the hard edges, the regime behind this extraordinary project club.
Barney Ronay is a professional lubed up buffoon with a limited intellect masquerading as an intelligent football journalist.
He’s taken a week to write a puff piece defending another of his corrupt colleagues.
Not much different to the puff pieces on no marks the agents are trying to get sold.

The gruaniad are part of the agent cartel corruption, don’t believe a word the bent ****s write.

Er, that tweet appears to be supportive of City fans. Maybe a drop of milkshake will improve your comprehension skills.

Haha maybe it would.

So used to reading nothing but negative about us lol.

My bad.

I think he's a damned fine writer, and when he sticks to football it's a real pleasure to read unfortunately his world view is completely alien to mine.

Imagine thinking we only hate sections of the media because the club put out a couple of press releases and is fanning the flames.

They really dont a clue about us.

Barry Glendenning on guardian football podcast thinks Arsenal should boycott the europa final out of principle that it's hosted in Baku, even though it would result in european ban, loss of hundreds of millions, deny their fans of potential silverware and deny their players the chance to play in a final... These public school boy hacks are living in another galaxy.

Just like his public school pal Barney Ronay, Glendenning is another preening posh boy who likes to mock and patronise working class football fans. The Guardian is infested with these sort of writers. They have no pedigree as proper journalists or track record for breaking stories but can write flowery prose. It's why the Guardian is one of the worst performing newspapers the media industry has seen with circulation down more than 50 per cent in the last decade. Sports journalism is being destroyed by these sort of imposters.[/QUOTE]

I’m not sure there should be a term “sport journalism”, to be frank. I think that alone has created these type of sport writers that think their work is on par with real journalists genuinely putting their reputations, careers, and sometimes lives on the line for the very important, potentially world changing stories they report. And even those are few and far between now.

“Sport journalism” further devalues what little actual journalism remains. They’re writing about grown men playing a ****ing game, they’re not Katherine ****ing Glasier.

Sorry if already been mentioned but looks like the club might have moved in on some of these journalists, Ewan mackenna is sulking on twitter saying his reports won’t see the light of day because no media outlets will take them on due to our legal power. Glorious.

Tell him to to publish it on Twitter the shitbag.

Or due to them being a pack of ill informed, made up bollocks ?

Oh they know what they’re doing.

It’s just s new narrative to put out, making themselves out as the victims of City fans bias.
It’s as transparent as everything else they put out.
They start with a falsehood and build a ridiculous narrative around it.

Sounds like a convenient excuse. It's never been easier to publish an article on the internet, unless of course it's full of bullshit that might result in you being sued. If he actually believed it was true...
