Mind melting stuff from Eni Aluko in the Guardian....

"Coaches and recruiters in the women’s game have a responsibility to move away from lazy player recruitment choices that reflect a narrow view of what is best and instead adopt a wider recruitment approach that will inevitably lead to consideration of diverse players as the best options for the job. The fans within a diverse multicultural world of football in the UK deserve a team that represents diverse choices as the best choices. Being diverse and best cannot continue to be mutually exclusive.

After all, we are all guided by the fact that some of the best in class at all levels of football are diverse. The future of women’s football should continue to reflect that."

You seeing this Nick Harris? ;-)

Someone needs to do an updated most watched PL games of all time in the USA article too. I don't think that will make great reading for him and his whatsapp group either.

Wow. Her first sentence... I wonder if she was getting paid by the word.

I think (well, hope) her argument is greater diversity of recruitment leads to greater competition and, by extension, greater excellence will emerge.
Although, to be honest, it's so bloated and obtuse, anybody could take away anything they want from it.

Nope, read those first three sentences several times and they don’t make sense. We still have a class system mixed with nepotism and diversity quotas. Will we ever argue for a meritocracy? Probably not. Not enough social media likes in it.

She's a box ticking nobody who would be stacking shelves at Home Bargains but for her ancestry.

There are many diverse reasons she is utterly shit at analysing, talking and writing about football.

Your statement makes more sense than she does.

It was likely a clumsy attempt to convey those sentiments but coming from an industry where the desire for a greater ethnic and gender diversity has been sought in senior management, I have yet to see anything that doesn’t usually equate to recruiting on profile rather than talent..
