media player wont work

help please,
am trying to listen to an online radio station, had no problem before but this laptop is new, when I "choose preferred player" I click windows media player and all I get is " do you want to open or save playlist.ask .....etc." I also have the option of using real player or winamp and neither will work. is there something I haven`t turned on or do I need to download something?

bit more info pal, what OS,do you have media centre? what station?

I`m not too clever with these things! whats an OS?
media centre, ? its a new laptop running windows 8
the station is Banbury internet radio

click on media player link
download the file,
left click on the file it downloads then select play with or open with windows media player.

done

downloaded the file

I press open and nothing happens
press save and it goes into downloads folder, ahhhhhhhhhhh!
