The club has said that they will conduct an internal investigation.
If it transpires that it is gross misconduct they could sack him.
It would send out a positive message if any club sacked a player for gross misconduct over something like this.
Sadly, there will always be another club that would be willing to employ them as players are assets with a monetary value as well as employees.
We are one of the few clubs who could afford to do it. It would be a powerful statement to make for the game of football and would do a lot of good for our reputation. Decent fans (the vast majority) have been disgusted by what a minority of players and some club bosses have done in recent months.

Agreed 100%
The usual knob heads in the media will spin it as Moneybags City and try to show us in a negative light regardless of whether it's the right thing to do or not.
You're right though and most fans I speak to are sick and tired of the behaviour of some of these top level footballers who know full well that their clubs won't sack them as they would simply rock up elsewhere and probably trouser a Bosman type signing on fee too.

The fourth time in recent months that Scholes has flouted the law by hosting mass gatherings. He has already had a visit from GMP, surely he has to be prosecuted now?
Has his son not been sent down yet for the pub incident?

Thought I'd read somewhere he had, unless he's already back out.

Edit* apparently just fined back in 2019....times flys.

thats true and while i agree in someways if we did sack him we d have to do it to everyone who also errred and as we didnt sack walker he would probably have a fairly strong case

He was partying till dawn during a busy Christmas schedule and breaching Covid rules when he was supposed to be in a secure bubble. He did this on New Year's Eve after he knew we had a Covid outbreak in the camp already affecting at least nine people. This shows total contempt for his colleagues and manager. It has disrupted our match preparations even more.
I wouldn't be surprised if other senior players demand he is booted out. Why should professional athletes be subject to this. The vast majority of our players (and staff) have been brilliant during this pandemic. They have supported our local community. Mendy is taking the piss out of the club and especially us fans.
You forgot to mention that he's turned to shit. People on here keep saying he had a bad injury (agree) and he needs time (he's had too much now - it's getting to be a piss-take imo).
I can imagine him with his 'City' poster in one hand and the Queen's Telegram in the other............still on the books.

Absolute shithouse, typical entitled son of a rich man who has achieved nothing himself but expects special treatment

Mendy has been very well looked after by City throughout all his injury problems and received the very best treatment available but it's clear he's never going to get back to be the player we signed in 2017.
The football community is very small and players talk to each other and the fact that City look after its players as employees is a plus when we're interested in signing anyone going forward.
Keeping hold of the likes of Aguero and Silva who would have walked into any team in the world in their pomp is testament to how well this policy has worked and you can count on one hand the number of players that have left that we would have like to have kept.
With Mendy, he was an elite level full back when he signed before the injuries and still has a huge salary and a longish contract that the club are obliged to honour.
Whether the club can or will terminate this waits to be seen.
He hasn't done himself any favours with all his Social Media antics which may have been forgiven had he delivered on the pitch prior to this latest incident either.

Pretty sure it was Cortinas but that wouldn't have fit your joke ;-)
Your right they were cortinas, it was the escort that won the World Cup London to Mexico rally in 1970, I had a picture as a kid of Colin pictured with the car. Jimmy greaves signed up to drive them when he started his rallying career in 1970. Your not the first to point this out, and ruin what could have been classed as humour possibly by a few on here lol.
