You are correct, the response given looks to be a standard one issued by the FCDO regarding Syria, a government comment all the same though.

The UN though appear to be strongly signalling that they want clear dialogue being opened between Syria and other Arab nations and it would indicate strongly that this is the first step in that process.

The UN guidance as listed several pages back in this thread is clear to see but seems absent from any of these world leading political think tanks and publications such as The Athletic and all the usual equally qualified sports journalists who clearly are following their own agenda/bias to click bait on what is genuine suffering in Syria, Ukraine and Yemen and being demeaned and trivialised by these prícks remarks on which they appear to have designated themselves commentators on.

And that's the biggest problem with people like Harris. He states his opinion as fact and when he get challenged on it rather than engage in a conversation for him to respond he just Blocks people so other people take his opinion as fact

Now, why would the Institute for Economic Affairs be interested in the proposed independent regulator for football?

The IEA is part of a network of right-wing think-tanks with their origin, plus much of their funding (it's believed), emanating from extreme conservative circles in the USA. Think Koch brothers and the like. In fact, it's been revealed that the IEA received funding from the tobacco industry, via BAT. It's part of the network of think-tanks advocating privatisation of the NHS and climate change denial.

Given that, it's not a huge leap to think that the usual suspects (Glazers, Kroenke, FSG) are behind this. They don't want an independent regulator, as it removes their control over the PL, which makes me automatically think it's therefore a good idea. Having said that, it may also be that we don't want it either.

Unless I am mistaken, the FCDO didn't personally criticise Mansour, which was the implication of the headline. This is the point I was making, replying to @SilvaisSkyBlue who referred to Chris Bryant as the muppet personally criticising Mansour.
