Surely the first tweet is factual and the second is an opinion. Not fully understanding where he is being inconsistent there.

Should he have not reported what happened because he thought it was a poor signing?
It’s clear why he posted the first one.

Lauding in how great it was that he got the goals and is “back”.

And that’s why people need to not take Twitter posts in isolation sometimes. That Twitter post came after he wrote this about Ronaldos return

“Nostalgia is a beautiful thing and it may well sustain United and Ronaldo through the next two years of their relationship but it is unlikely to be the signing that lifts United to the title.

It is an admission of defeat, too, because it is a symbol of a club that still cannot let go of their glorious past”.

His point with the fatboy slim lyrics was that the club was already playing up to exactly that narrative to have a song like that played. It’ll paper over cracks and get the fans on board and from time to time Ronaldo will win a match for them, but that’s it.

Poor 'journalism' all round.

Fair enough. Not convinced that was the point you were making. If you read his stuff on Ronaldo I think he has pretty much nailed it. A tactic by the Glazers to appease the fans, a nod to the nostalgic ‘glory’ years but not necessarily what they needed going forward. Only time will tell though.
