I think it was the suggestion that laughing at him was misplaced. I think his point was laughable enough to be parodied in the way it was :)

Yea sure. The quote wasn't really presented as parody but as a quote, and a fair few took it that way. The point itself coul still be laughed off though.

That was a ridiculous match, but at 2-0 they could easily have won, but Madrid are one of the only teams in the world who can do that.

After all, we conceded 3 in 5 minutes against Madrid in a game where we were well on top last season.

Yes, probably no more than half a dozen who might do that.

One of the few times I wholeheartedly agree with The Athletic.

Oh man, that was made worse by the fact i'd proper give it them over the 5-1, got it back in spades!
Absolutely. You know, those 7 years (between the 5-1 and the 96 cup game when we got fucked by the ref) were the most formative for me as a Blue.

I was 9 years old, sat on the wall in the corner of the Kippax with my legs dangling through the fence. That game is burned into my memory. Maybe it's my blue-tinted nostalgia, but I remember my older brother and my Dad giving it out to red mates after the game but it was, for the most part, good natured and respectful.

The abuse I got after the 5-0 was vicious, vitriolic and violent.

It's what has always separated us and them.

They're scum. Always have been. Always will be.

It's why we should never, ever lift our foot off their fucking throats. Rag cunts.

I'd not seen much of the CBS team before, but have watched a few clips of the CL final, and found it a bit cringeworthy.

Genuinely can't believe that when they were interviewing Haaland, the first time they spoke to him after he's just won the treble, they actually asked him to to comment on whether THEY were the funniest football show on TV.

If that's light years better, I worry for the future :/

In response to a suggestion that the year's CL was a bit easier to win this year:

"the last 15 years it feels like the field of potential winners of the CL has got smaller and this year felt like the smallest ever. In fact it did come down to the fact that once Liverpool were knocked out, and once Bayern were knocked out admittedly by City, once Madrid were knocked out, it was kind of was a clear path, and even the final was [bit of praise that Inter played their best, but that it was City playing themselves to some extent]."

It's a bit gabbled, and I don't think he said "a clear path to the final", but essentially the only alternative meaning is that the final opposition could have been stronger.

He did of course feel obliged to claim that it's City's owners doing in part that the field is smaller.
He's a fuckin wanker, end of.

By his logic, Chelsea would not have beaten us in the CL final 2 years ago.

Wimbledon, Wigan and loads more would not have won the FA Cup

Leicester would not have won the PL

Rags would not have won the CL in '99

Loads more examples and this is football

I fuckin hate him and his ilk, slimy fuckin ****.

That was one of the few moments that were cringeworthy. And it was mostly down to their two weakest pundits: Schmeichel (egotistical ****) and Micah (who I think tries too hard to be funny or relevant).

Otherwise, if you watch the coverage throughout the tournament, they are substantially better than BT, in analysis, features, interviews, and general coverage.

That is especially the case when it comes to City—they are far fairer and even complimentary toward us than BT (and arguably any other British broadcaster). Thierry Henry in particular has been one of the most balanced pundits toward us.

As opposed to BT (and Sky, BBC, etc), where nearly every pundit is awful, their analysis of matches is often uncomfortably poor, their interviews are dull (because every player knows they are just looking for a sound bite to twist in to a controversy, so they all give club PR answers), and their coverage of City is actively hostile at times.

I would watch full coverage next season and then make up your mind.

Won't I have to move to another country? ;)
