I’m not sure if it’s due to COVID-19 restrictions or whether it’s down to Wellington being unable to find a match sponsor for the game. That was certainly the reason why the game against Victory in February was played behind closed doors, so hopefully @heartman can enlighten us.
Both are correct.
Nix cannot play home games in NZ as restrictions are still n place. They have been based in Wollongong and have struggled to muster much support financially and it actually costs them to play home games.
As a cost cutting measure they have closed the ground. They have also looked at playing the rest of their home games vs NSW teams as the home team. Not sure this will be allowed, but they deserve a huge amount of credit.
They have been living on the road for 2 seasons and for the most of it been pretty competitive.

The restrictions for outdoor stadia here in NZ have just been lifted so in theory the Phoenix could play home games again but there is the the logistics and planning to make it happen. Things won't get normal for quite a while yet
Really unbelievable sacrifice from Wellington. Not sure they will ever get the recognition they deserve.

Another comfortable victory with four goals and a clean sheet. That should hold them in good stead for the derby on Saturday. Deserved a bigger crowd.

Excellent performance probably worth a couple more goals...all bodes well to stuff the other lot on Saturday....KO 10.45 for us in the UK.
