Messi’s contract at Barca revealed

At least PSG will have to rework their contract offer again.

Unfortunately for City our top earners will now know what figures Messi and his father will angling for if he signs for the club.

Of course Messi won't get anywhere near that at City. but the likes of KDB, etc, will want as much pariy as possible with Messi.

Is Haaland really that good? I haven’t really seen him play, never seen a full game of his. Is he a cut above anyone else out there?
How would you rank him in terms of value to a team compared to say Mbappe?
To give you some context I'm 50 plus and not easily impressed, so here goes.

He's good, actually he's very good.
He's a big lad, but he's quick. He scores all sort of goals from tap-ins to goals from outside the box.
He seems to have an awareness and knack of being in the right place at the right time.
Not as showy as Mbappe but a striker who grafts and wants to score lots of goals.

Can he do it in the PL?
Well we'll find out cos if we don't buy him so one will and I'd be worried if we came up against him.

This debate would have more credence if it was already publicly know we are getting only one of Messi/some young guy(Haaland/Mbappe).
We may get both or we may get none. In my opinion what the contract revealed is it is damn expensive to keep Messi around. I guess people already knew that just not the real numbers.
Messi won't be expecting the same deal at this age from anyone if he has half a brain.
What would be the right deal that makes him come to us and not PSG is something still unknown. What we do have in our arsenal is his favorite coach, his best friend and his Barcelona executives. So if there is a decent deal to negotiate with why not.
And again it goes without saying - He is a market and a lifestyle and a persona in his own. We just don't know the price we may have to pay for it.

If Messi comes I suspect it will be on a contract with CFG which is heavily linked to how much commercial revenue he brings in. So he will probably take a cut of sponsor deals and image rights etc. He will get huge rewards but will not cost us much at all.
I also think his deal will be tied up in some way with a move to New York City FC, possibly with his pal Sergio. If those two rocked up in the MLS for a couple of years it would be a financial bonanza in the USA for CFG. No wonder JW Henry and his cronies have tried every trick in the book to try and block our progress

Messi represents that oft promised, much sought after but rarely achieved surefire investment. Consider this, guys:
  • Absolutely no financial or PR risk.
  • No chance of a 34-year old in a new country flopping or rapidly fading.
  • No danger of serious injury or even minor but persistent niggles.
  • No chance of Coutinho/ Griezmann/Dembele-like knock-on effect on wages. Existing players will readily concede they are merely the supporting act.
  • No prospect of a media circus revolving around its freak attraction.
  • No hint of recreating a pre-fcuked up Barcelona in M11. We’d be forging our own unique mint Mancunian brand.
It’s a wet dream, a one-way ticket to global massivedom, a magnet for burgeoning day tripper support.... all without even being arsed to upgrade the floodlights.

Forget PPI, pension mis-selling, the banking crisis, crypto-currency, pandemics, penis enlargement and even that ten sluts near you need fcuking. Trust the financial guys. This is the real deal and I won’t hear a word against it...

... If it even happens. Unfortunately, because he’s free, we might expect heavy competition. That’s if he’s not already signed up on a pre-agreement.

Thanks for that, seriously. I have heard a lot about him, but not seen him, so reading a reply like that is really helpful in giving a bit of context.
And as you suggest with your last sentence, there’s always that risk isn’t there, as there was with bringing Sergio for example.

If Barca have leaked this as it looks like I would like Messi to call their bluff and announce he would be happy to sign a new contract with them, see how quickly they distance themselves from him.

They want him out regardless of what they might say, from out point of view i think we should stay well away from any deal. Regardless of what he would be paying him the figure in this contract would be used as a starting point by the media and it would just whip up FFP accusations again.

I do not think we should sign him either but for the simple reason that his wages might be a problem in the dressing room.

What makes you think any of our current top earners/performers will have the ego and balls to try and claim parity with the best footballer in history? Messi has been shitting on our greatest ever striker and the leagues most clinical finishers numbers for a decade whilst simulateously overshadowing the assists numbers kdb can put out in his best seasons. If anybody thinks they can ask for Messi money they'll be laughed out the room and told to come back when he's producing Messi numbers.

Messi is the best in history. If Sterling then asks for more then fuck him off, sign someone else. We can literally sign anyone with Messi here.

Las summer Messi manager was seriously disillusioned because he was the scapegoat for everything that went wrong at Barcelona and the club had done nothing to rebuild the team, but shelled out fortunes on players the manager wouldn't pick. Then they sold Suarez who was one player Messi enjoyed playing alongside. He was apparently attracted to City and was in contact with Pep. Now they have published details of his contract in an attempt to discredit him. What it actually shows is the Messi more than pays for himself and City have already said that the money is "available". They have already announced their intention of signing a striker, so if Haaland is a target Messi's arrival is likely to make signing Haaland, or whoever the target is, easier rather than more difficult. As far as KdB is concerned I suspect he would love playing with Messi but would not expect a deal anything like Messi's. One bonus for all our players would be that bonuses depend on success and are collective not individual: if Messi generates greater income for the club the pool to be shared for winning each trophy would increase as would, therefore, each player's share.

If any player wants to compare themself with messi then they need to have open honest 1 on 1 reality check with themselves . Than they need therapy session daily.

It make me think, (with all this shit that Barca are pushing out) have a number of big sponsors, already given notice that their contracts will not be renewed if and when Messi goes.

it's what happens when the institution ends up being run by the sycophants, suits and hangers on rather than the people that made it great in the first place. Cruyff would be turning in his grave if he saw shit like. The reason Barca mean anything is because of what they instilled on the pitch, they never had the right to dictate things off it and it's now biting them.
Cruyff making a Cruyff turn?
Seriously though those wages are absurd. Can’t believe my eyes.
