"Metrolink puts tram service on for football and music fans"

Just as a side note. My lad went to get one on the Alty line today but they weren't running. He couldn't find out why and decided to get the bus..... it broke down.

What a shit City we live in.
Apparently points failure where the train tracks meet the tram tracks at Navigation Road, so no trams thought to Alty.

Temp dropped to all of -2 last night. Wait til 1 inch of snow falls and the UK grinds to a halt

The Metrolink system for east manchester is shit and badly run, Forget the so-new system and more trams for football or concerts at the new COOP because fans will still be pressed in like sardines in a tin wanting to get on the first tram that turns up,

I don't know the ruling on how many tram carriages can be used under one single tram pulling them, or can they stack 2 or 3 double trams one in one out system, Anyway it's about a 15-minute walk to town or Piccadilly station and it's a great walk when we have won or a good way to get it off your cheat if we have lost

Not like Maine Road 30 to 45-minute walk depending on the weather or DOG and Horse shit dodging
It's about 1.5 miles walking to Picc station, Seb Coe would struggle to do it in 15 minutes Depending on where in the ground you set off from, for example East Stand, , it's 4 mins to get down from EL3, then a 5 min walk to the walking route and then a 40 min walk to Picc.

Article linked makes no sense. What’s the point in waiting till 8pm weeknights (and after 6.30pm Saturdays) to commence the trams from Alty; too late for most gigs or footy?
And why mix GMT and BST?
It's cos Metrolink couldn't run a piss up in a brewery. However when a game is on at OT, it's double trams on all lines every 6 mins

I know a guy who works in data for the transport sector. His explanation for the failings in Metrolink is that it’s largely down to when it was built in the early 90s as a much smaller network, every tram has to go through Cornbrook. This wasn’t a problem at the time but it means the system isn’t scalable so now it’s a massive bottleneck and causes issues all over the network. It’s a fundamental flaw in Metrolink.

Not sure how true this is but it makes sense to me and the guy who told me this does a lot of contract work for the council and TFGM in data analytics.

Other than going to the game I use the tram every couple of weeks or so, including last Friday going to Southern Cemetery (faulty tram at Deansgate causing havoc). The amount of times I've encountered delays due to one reason or another is absurd. Now this can't just be coincidentally during the occasions I'm using the service. It must be a regular occurrence. Great service when all is well, but so susceptible to regular problems causing chaos.

People in this country just can’t deal with any fluctuation in weather.

A bit of heat or a bit of cold and the country loses its collective shit.

We’re a nation of morons.

Despite the snow this morning & unlike yesterday’s signal failures the first tram off Altrincham towards town was running & on time at 0559. There’s no rhyme or reason to tne consistency of the service even on the Altrincham line which is generally the ‘best’ line.

The trouble with this country is the infrastructure is rubbish, take Manchester airport for example,an international airport where it takes an hour to get to the city centre by tram, and you can’t even get to Stockport by public transport after 10 pm.they ripped up train lines in the 60’s,tram lines were covered and now we can’t cope with the traffic, unlike most of Europe where they still use old trams accross their network and airport connections are reliable and run to the early hours if not 24/7
