Metrolink to / from Etihad

Stockport doesn't need a tram line, you never wait more that 10 mins for a train into Manchester. Money would be better spent increasing the existing city centre capacity.
Everywhere in GM needs capacity improvements to fix historical neglect, current requirements and future growth. I don’t really know about the Stockport to Manchester services anymore but the slow trains only seem to stop at Heaton Chapel and Levenshulme, so there are lots of other places (whether they are on the route or not) that need better services for travel around that part of the region.

We have to change the mindset in this part of the country, Northerners have got used to “making do” but it’s affecting growth.

So that’s this weekend against Sunderland and West Ham affected by Metrolink strikes.

For that West Ham game it’s not just Metrolink drivers, but all Bee Network drivers including bus drivers. So not Mets or buses.

For the buses it’s just one union (currently) so shouldn’t be all the buses. Still, not good is it.

No one in their right mind will get a tram from Stockport to Manchester centre. It will be used for those wanting to travel, say, from Stockport to Parrs Wood or Didsbury.

We've got an ever worsening problem on the road and motorway network in GtrMcr due to traffic increase, bike lanes and all the rest of it. Metrolink does pick up a lot of journeys that would otherwise be done on the road. Now by and large it offers an efficient and relatively inexpensive service. However this service is loaded to the Mon-Fri 7 am- 6pm travellers. The problem is that the weekend and later evening services suffer with pre and post event journeys become horrendous. This is now a blight with no sign of improving.
100%, I’d echo this. In my experience, daytime and main commute services weekday are fine, by and large.

Stood in Piccadilly Station whilst trams to Eccles, Media City, Deansgate Castlefield & completely empty passed through before an Altrincham tram eventually put in an appearance. This organisation is utterly shite.
3 of us go to the match together but leave separately and join up.
At 12.15pm at Sale they announced a problem with the trams but no information as to what. The trams were at 20 minute intervals ! I spoke to staff at St Peters Sq who had not been informed of any issues.
Coming back my tram terminated at Timperley, the one behind went to Alty but the one after again terminated at Timperley?
It is total guess work and it is run by idiots.

If you are using it to travel from the Etihad-St Peters Sq., who is the idiot?

It's a shame you didn't read what I put.
There are no trams to the etihad from Altrincham, there never are on match days (which seems totally stupid but hey whats new). We get off in town and have a few beers. The clue is in the 12.15 departure time. It is supposed to be a tram every 6 minutes.
We then walked back to Peters Sq not knowing what trams were going to the ground, that's when I asked staff. You would think Metro staff would know about problems - they didn't.
And before you pontificate again. The app was useless)
Then there was the return journey. We get off at Sale but what about everyone that goes to Alty ?

It's shite.

It is worse than shite.

Im only an occasional visitor to the Etihad and used to catch the buses after match. Last few times Ive walked back, including yesterday but managed to get a bit lost which is not great with wife and young boy. Never bothered with the tram before.
Anyway, after staying to wave the team, the que for the tram was insane, but seemed organised.

Just out of curiosity for next time, roughly how long do you have to wait for the tram?

Completely random.

Metrolink’s service is supposed to have a Met come every 12 minutes. However, after City games you can sometimes get 3 come in the space of 6 minutes or only 1 come in the space of 24 minutes.

There’s no rhyme or reason for it, it just seems random and unorganised.
