Metrolink users

Train goes from Alty through Navi to Stockport then to Piccadilly

I sang the title to this thread not sure why I think it reminded me of an Elbow song.

Out of interest has any event at Old Trafford had no trams running due to engineering works?

If the other lines are operating, here is the solution for those travelling from the Altrincham direction.
  1. Drive to the free Metrolink car park at Sale Water Park - 10 minutes from Timperley where I live.
  2. Catch the Airport tram to Cornbrook and change to the Etihad/Ashton tram.
I do that quite often and have no problems.

Still think that Metrolink is shit though and is not a patch on public transport in the rest of Europe with the exception of London.

London public transport is superb as it should be considering all the money being spent in the capital, and they wonder why the rest of the country voted for Brexit?

You ever been on or seen the the Edinburgh tram network? Thats shit. Only one line from the Airport to town. They are now finally expanding though but its years too late and at a sky high cost to the tax payer.

There's a bus replacement service which will be a lot slower than the tram but should be quicker than the 263.
I very much doubt that it will be quicker, it has to call at every station on the route which means frequent detours off the main road.

Get yourself to Sale Water Park and do the Metrolink from there.

If a Union strikes at a time when it causes little inconvenience then they've not really understood the point of a strike.
Northern guards want to strike to raise the 'driver opening the doors' issue but understand they need to keep the public on side to support, hence why it's ratcheted, reduced service on Saturday rather than full on strike days which effect peoples' ability to get to work during the week for instance.

Firstly the guards dont want to strike, but they feel they have no alternative as any meaningful attempts/talks to find an acceptable outcome/compromise have been rejected by the company.
The guards are operating full strike days, the reason certain services are still running is because of managers being required to work, along with other trains being worked by a SCAB army.
