Micah working as hard as ever
06/01/2009 07:45

Micah Richards has admitted he is working ‘as hard as ever’ to address the criticisms made of the Club following the FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to the Club’s official monthly publication, the City Magazine, Richards stated: “I take criticism in my stride. I am working as hard as ever and I don’t feel as if I have done anything drastically wrong this season for people to comment on.

“Of course I am not the finished article I have lots to learn and I would be a fool to think anything else.

“What I don’t do is let anything that is thrown at me get in the way of training or learning and I know that it is important that I am a thorough professional.

“Football is the most important thing in my life. I have already played 100 first team games which I feel is a good achievement for someone of my age and I am proud of my profession. I aim to make the most of my opportunities.

“I believe in my ability and I think City fans and England fans know what I am capable of. It is just a matter of me finding the kind of form I was in last season.”

And with the January transfer window now open, Richards expects to see more new faces join that of left back Wayne Bridge who signed for the Blues over the weekend.

Micah added: “It is all about getting the right balance and I believe we will get it right and I expect the Manager will bring people in all positions. We all want to see the squad get stronger.

“I think we do need more defenders in the Club and I am sure the boss will bring some in during this month.

“Perhaps we have had it too easy at the back after last season when we were quite tight as a unit. Competition is always healthy and you cannot have too many good players at your club.”

And I agree, he has had some dire games this season but warrants his place no less than any other one of our current back 4.

He's been shocking since he got his long term contract. He needs to be dropped and then needs to get on the training ground and learn the basics.

I.e. If the ball is crossed over, don't just stand there and watch it

The reason for Micah being utter bollocks this season is because he has put on 2stone extra in Mucsle its weird I no but he is killing the gym so much ..... How do u tell a young lad to stop working out so much thats a tough one!!!!

Ban him from the weights, demand he loses the bulk, fine him everytime he doesn't stick to the agreed programme.

The more interesting part of the interview (the one in the MEN anyway) is his desire to play right back. In case he didnt notice, he's playing centre half!

Trying to anyway

Needs to slow down on the weights and pick his concentration levels up. Practise heading the ball as he never seem to head a ball to a city player!!

A couple of weeks in the reserves might help him realise his poor displays,

Thing is if we sold him his concentration levels would pick up for a while and we'd all be pissed off. He still has so much potential, come on Micah get your shit together son!!

The problem is that cos of all the fat bastards the shirts are dead baggy this year. He was okay in last year's nicely fitted shirts but he's had to bulk up to avoid looking like Kompany who seems to wear a shirt 4 sizes too big.

My uncle knows a few people at the club and apparently Micah is doing the minimum training required each day and then hitting the gym as soon as he can

Should be loaned out to Salford RLFC, Ten times tougher and a pittance in pay by comparison with MC. Then he will realise what a good wicket he is on.
