Mice in the garage

I have 2 very gnarly Cats and very few mice, if a Mouse does ever escape the Cat trap the missus usually corners it picks it up and puts it to the back of the garden, I can't bring myself to kill one.

I had a few mice in my house in Moston and I bought a little box that ommitted a very high pitched sound that humans and dogs etc could not hear but drove mice crazy.
They were coming in through the fire place and exited there into my neighbours.
She knocked on my door a few days later asking if I had a problem with mice and I said I didn't.... She said they were everywhere in her house and got pest control in!

First time I've ever (knowingly) had a problem with mice in our house.

We've got at least 2 or 3 living in the garage. They've got in under the garage door as there's a gap of about an inch to crawl under.

I've laid out some poison and they've gone through two little bowls of the stuff, so here's hoping that's enough.

Has anyone else had them? What was the best way to get rid of them and keep them away?
